"Brent Collier was my connection with Buckeye State Roofing. He was excellent to work with and helped me submit an insurance claim which paid for a good part of the roof repairs. Brent was very professional in getting me a quote, helping to manage the insurance claim, scheduling the work and getting it done in a timely fashion. All work was done very well. The clean up after the job was excellent. If I ever need roofing work again, I will not hesitate to contact Brent. I was very satisfied with this re-roofing experience."

"Found George Davis from Home Advisor, have worked with him and his team on several minor repairs over the last several years and a full roofing replacement about a year ago. From the start, George has been very prompt and courteous. He took the time to walk my wife and myself (first time home buyers) through the issues and options, with photos and clear explanations when needed. Never felt pressured to decide one way or another, and each time he completed the work promptly; never needed to call twice about an issue. New roof looks great, have had zero issues in over a year with it now. Reasonably priced and worth every penny. Very happy with the service and would highly recommend George and his team; we will continue to do so for any future needs."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

This will depend on your existing roof to some degree, but it’s common to raise a roof 4 to 8 feet. The exact amount you can raise is subject to the existing structure. For most homes with average roof slopes—20 to 45 degrees—you can raise the roof around 5 feet.

When it comes to choosing the best roof color for a blue exterior, you have plenty of options. For a classic neutral look, go with a light gray, dark gray, or black roof. Blend gray tones if you want a more eye-catching look for your roof, or go for a different splash of color with a green or even red. Take inspiration from your neighbors if you want your house to fit in on the block.

It’s possible for a roofing estimate to change after the initial assessment, but in most cases, it shouldn’t. There’s always the risk that something unexpected will happen that causes prices to go up, like discontinued materials or your roofer discovering previously hidden damage to your decking when ripping off the old roof. However, experienced roofers should account for these circumstances in their initial estimates. Roofing contracts are binding, so always check your contract for language about how and why your numbers could change.

A chimney liner is typically easier to install by pushing it down through the chimney with the help of a rope. Depending on your fireplace and the type of liner, installing it by pushing it up through the chimney could work, but operating from the top down is usually the best option.

No, you can’t use your home’s square footage. You have to calculate your roof’s square footage, and then you may have to convert your square footage measurement to correspond with how the roofing material is measured. For instance, some roofing is sold in “squares,” which equals the total square footage of the roof divided by 100. Shingles are sold in bundles that may not correspond to the number of squares you need. Metal roofing is sold as sheets, so determine the amount of square feet each panel will cover and then divide the total square footage by the coverage area.
