"I found Brothers Masonry through Angi (Thanks Angi!). Tim, Matt and Crew were excellent. Started with free quote. They were a couple months out and we set a date to rebuild Masonry walls (from a building fire), Rework Door Thresholds (to add a traditional garage door), and remove an old chimney. Matt even called the night before scheduled work was to commence to reconfirm. The team finished the job in 3.5 days and even patched a hole in my floor next to a door that wasn't in scope. Came in slightly under quote which helps the budget (we did not wind up needed as much replacement block). Great job guys, Thank you!"

"Juan and his team did an excellent job on our landscaping. He was able to helped me figure out my restainig wall design (he provided me several options to choose from), removed all the old landscaping (bushes and plants), trimmed one of our trees, put in the new retaining wall and added a few low maintenance plants (which is what I requested) and added some volcanic rock (for low maintenance). We are extremely happy with the end result. It was worth every penny."

Prefabricated fireboxes come with a full flue and chimney system, significantly reducing the price and installation time. However, if you need to replace the panels down the line, you are locked into the same model or something very similar.

While painting can certainly change the look of a chimney, you should think twice about giving your brick chimney the old landlord special.

Painting brick is porous, meaning it’s full of tiny holes that can soak up moisture. Those holes also allow it to dry, though. So, when you paint it, you trap any moisture inside, providing an opportunity for mold, mildew, and water damage.

Paint also shows wear faster than naked brick. This means that once you paint a brick surface, you’ll have to keep painting it to maintain a clean look. A paint job is also harder to undo on brick because of its porous nature. Once you paint it, it’s hard to go back without some serious power washing—another added cost.

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. On average, a quality exterior brick stain can last between 10 and 20 years, and sometimes even longer. While it will look its best for a minimum of three to five years, its total lifespan depends on several factors. These include the quality and type of stain used, the condition of the brick, and the thoroughness of the surface preparation, such as proper cleaning.
