"I do not know how to respond to a customer like this but let me try. This customer called me because he had a problem with mortar stains left on a blue stone patio by a previous contractor. I made three trips to his house addressing this problem without resolution and no money changed hands. The actual job in question had to deal with 5 separate brick areas involving power washing, placing polymeric sand followed by brick enhancer. Upon completion of the job I had made a total of seven trips to his house. He paid me half of the money before I began the job for material costs. I completed the jobs while he was away on vacation and ten days later when he returned he paid me the remainder due and could not have been happier with the job as he made me out to be the greatest person in the world and actually went a little overboard on the compliments. The crux of the issue had to do with mortar stains the size of a 50 cent piece that the previous contractor left. I gave him the total price of $1100 of the work to be performed when he noticed mortar stains at the end of his driveway. He asked me how much more that would be and I said free, I'd be glad to do that for you. The problem area was [Member Information Removed] up by the house that neither of us had seen originally. When he gave me the final check he said in passing what about this spot here and it was the size of a 50 cent piece. I said I would come back and fix it and did so making that my ninth trip for this one job. The next day he complained via text and said the spot was now too light. When we spoke on the phone that night, I told him if he would provide the brick enhancer I would be glad to put it on and that is when he exploded on the phone, would not let me get a word in edge wise and hung up on me. I was never able to explain myself."
