"Jean was outstanding from the very beginning. He walked us through the product options, clearly explained everything, personally introduced the installers, and checked in throughout the project to make sure everything we agreed on was being done. That level of follow-through really stood out. I?ve had other home projects where the salesperson says one thing and the installers do another ? that was NOT the case here. The team was professional, on time, kept the workspace clean, and delivered exactly what was promised with no surprise costs. If you?re looking for a reliable bathroom remodeling company, I highly recommend ARK Remodel."

"After getting quotes from several different companies to finish 1200 square feet of our basement, we ultimately decided to go with Dave Richards Home Improvements. It was a great decision and we had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Their team was friendly, professional and extremely talented. Our first encounter with Bruce Irving (our primary contact) was what sealed the deal. Having Bruce in our home was like having a good friend over for a visit and he never failed to answer our questions or address any changes/concerns that popped up along the way. Bruce always ensured us that they settle for nothing less than perfect and with this company, that proved to be true. Bruce was able to get us on the calendar within a month and once the work began, things flowed smoothly. Flabio, our framer, did an exceptional job. We are still in awe of his work and wonder how one person can pull off such an amazing feat. Once Flabio’s framing was complete, Ashley, Julio, Milt and Mikey-Mike and crew (Bruce told us to call you that Mike) came in and finished the job. Their work was flawless and each day they cleaned up before they left. When the work was done and tweaks needed to be made, we really appreciate the quick responses that we got from Bruce and the timely way that Mike showed up to address those small tweaks. We even got a couple of calls from Dave Richards himself to answer a few questions we had along the way. We absolutely LOVE our newly finished basement and are so grateful to the entire team at Dave Richards Home Improvement!"

"If you need to do a remodeling project in your home THIS is the guy you need to use!! He does ALL the work himself (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc...). He did an AMAZING job and his price was more than reasonable. He is very reliable and he is meticulous with the work he does. He did 2 bathroom remodels in our home which he gutted and started from scratch. They both turned out beautiful (tile, flooring, cabinet install, plumbing, lighting etc..) and he does all the work himself!! He showed up on time everyday and he was a pleasure to have around! My dogs even loved him! He also remodeled our den and installed hardwood floors on our first floor. The work turned out beautiful and we are soo happy! We plan to use him again in the future to remodel our master bath and our basement. He was highly recommended from a few of my husbands co-workers who have also used him for many home remodel projects and were very happy with the quality/price of his work. After using a local "Remodeling Company" for our kitchen a few years back, I can't tell you how happy we were to find Greg of H&B Construction. That company charged us huge prices and the work went on forever!! Wish I would have known about Greg and H&B back then! This guy does it all, is very skilled, does beautiful work, is reliable and honest and his prices are VERY reasonable. If you read this review and need a remodel project in your home, trust me-- call Greg!! You won't regret it!!"

"The crew drove from Columbus to Jackson several days for installation. Both turned out great!! Crew was very sensitive toward protecting landscape as was a high priority for me. Multi phone calls to make sure all was ok after installation. Would highly recommend!!"

"The end quality and workmanship was great! The only draw back was the height of the splash guards a bit too high. The counter got installed by the splash guards had to be trimmed and installed a few days later. Carlton does great work and delivered in the end a good installation."

"I wanted straighter/level deck & edges of a 97 year old slate roof before removing the slate, replacing the deck, and replacing the slate with asphalt shingle. My thought was to prop low spots in the wavy front edge in front, and prop the sagging corners in back; then, to build triangular braces similar to one extant on the house, like many on houses of similar age and design in the neighborhood. The idea of propping the low spots was dismissed, discussed again, and eventually dismissed as unnecessary; the low spots were forced up by hand, and fascia boards attached. While I was told the weight of the new roof might drop the level of the low spots again, this may have been more than anticipated; in retrospect it may have been preferable to force the low spots higher than could be done by hand, as the discrepancies from linear in the edges of the roof have, I think, caused inability to properly interface the drip edges and guttering at many places. I would though hire Dave's again."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

In some cases, granite tiles can be installed over existing flooring if the surface is level, stable, and free of moisture issues. However, removing old flooring is often recommended to ensure a secure and long-lasting installation, as well as to avoid height differences at thresholds. Consult with your flooring pro to determine the best approach based on your specific situation.

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.

When considering the types of grout for your project, unsanded grout is the best choice for penny tile. Unsanded grout can fit better into narrow spaces, like those between the small penny tiles, and it’s easier to smooth out for a seamless finish. However, if you’re unsure, check with a tile installation pro to determine which grout is best for your specific project.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.
