"Had the whole house insulated in 2016. Just found out that there is now mold in the attic. Have had three different contractors come to look at it and ALL have said the reason is because when the insulation was blown into the attic they did not take the time to rake it away from the soffits. Now I'm faced with a major repair bill of $3000 to eliminate the mold. Plus, to make matters worse, my utility bill did not go down very much after having this done. Only thing I can say is that the house is more comfortable. So beware if you use this company and make sure they install the insulation into your attic correctly!"

"The insulation in my basement was falling down and in horrible shape. These guys came out removed and installed new insulation the same day! The 2 workers who came out were very polite and thorough!"

"The company was very supportive and accommodating. They took their time during the initial visit to review our attic before supplying a competitive quote which we accepted. They stuck by the quote during the completion of the job even though part of the attic required some additional insulation. Both Jose and Sergio were extremely thorough and professional. I will definitely recommend them to others without hesitation."

"My wife and I attended a presentation by James Manfield, the owner of GreenForce.  We were impressed with company product and Jame's punctuality, professionalism and honesty.  We decided to hire his company to add insulation to attic of my in-laws house.  The installers came on time and over 9 hours managed to complete 95% of the job.  The installers were polite, professional and clean.  The subsequent installers came next day and completed the job.  We are very pleased with James and the service provided by his company. As FYI, we had similar radiant barrier installed by another company in our own house in 2012 and we were pleased with the reduction in heating and cooling cost."

"After having a major pipe bust and leak issue repaired, we then had to fix up water damage as well as damage left by plumbers trying to fix our problems.  One of the damages at hand was wet insulation and wet and rotting boards holding that insulation up underneath the side of our kitchen where it meets our back porch (about 2 feet off the ground).
Tom came out and not only removed the section that was damaged, but pulled out basically the whole row of boards and insulation that followed along where our kitchen and porch meet (not damaged, but older).  He then added all new insulation and replaced all the boarding holding it up.  His charge for all of this doesn't seem fair... to him.
Now, when just about anything needs fixed around the house, we are ready to give Tom a call!

"Chris Hawk came out and looked at the vents & soffits on our roof.  He looked (in the attic) at how the soffits were installed and said that we don't need any more vents or soffits.  He suggested contacting an insulation company to see if we have adequate insulation in the attic.  I was ready to pay for additional vents, but it was nice to find out that I don't need to spend the money for them.  I'll call this company again when I have a roof problem."

"We had a two-fold project: 1) tear down a chain link fence and build a wooden fence; and 2) finish a 315 sq ft screened in porch into a four-seasons room. I dealt directly with Bill, the company president, in getting my estimates and signing the contract.

Part 1: We decided to get a 5 ft scalloped wooden fence with 1 1/2 inch spacing and we honestly could not be happier with it. On the first day, they completed the chain link fence tear down, as well as putting up posts and fence for half of the yard (~200 linear feet). The second day they completed most of the other half. The unfinished part took longer because it required drilling posts through the driveway and building a complex gate. The entire job took under three days and looks amazing.

Part 2: I give Ultimate Concepts major kudos for working with us on finishing the screened in porch into a four seasons room. Our chief consideration was that the structure of the porch be used...we did not want a tear down and rebuild. One contractor said they would have to tear down and rebuild--despite our saying that was not what we wanted. Another contractor gave a rough estimate for $20k, then called back and said he did not think what we wanted was possible. Two other contractors failed to submit bids. The tricky part was that we had a severely sloped floor (3 in. back to front over 12 ft) with little head room to give for raising the floor due to a strongly sloped roof/ceiling. UC was successfully able to level the floor by framing it and raising it 5 inches in the back and 2 in the front. The doors were custom ordered to the right height and to swing in so they were not obstructed by the overhanging roof were they to swing out (the roof/height issue being the primary reason the first contractor said we had to tear down). We also got insulated sliding windows all the way around the room. They were high grade, locally sourced windows. UC also blew insulation into the ceiling and knee walls to make sure the entire room is insulated. Additional activities they performed to convert the room included:

+ tearing down siding on the wall bordering the house and putting up dry wall
+ putting up drywall over the wooden knee wall
+ installing two ceiling fans (one was included in the price; replacing one that was there)
+ putting up trim and moulding throughout the room
+ painting the room
+ installing carpet with top-of-the-line carpet padding

The only drawbacks were 1) the sub/employee doing the work was often late, left early, and did not always show up when he said he would (even with that, the project was finished only a few days late); and 2) he was not the best drywall person. He knew what he was doing, but there are a number of minor imperfections in the work. I will say, however, that he was very customer service oriented and worked hard while he was there. Overall, the transformation was exactly what we had hoped for and was kept within our budget. We sincerely appreciate the work that UC did for us.

The overall price for the job was $18,500 and, in addition to the fence and sunroom, included putting up quarter-inch drywall over the plaster walls in an interior room and painting the room.

FAQs for insulation service projects in Baltimore, OH

When choosing a professional insulation installer, consider asking these questions to determine the best fit.

  • Will you address air leaks in my house?

  • Can you provide an R-value (heat resistance) fact sheet?

  • What kind of insulation will work best for my home?

  • How do you handle signs of a water leak?

  • Are you licensed and insured?

  • Can you provide customer references?

The best type of insulation for your home depends on what you need, so the answer will depend on your specific situation. If you’re building a house, structural panels are easy to install during the building process in addition to being the most energy efficient type. If you live in a warm climate, reflective insulation may benefit you more as it costs less than other insulation types. And for standard attics, loose-fill, spray foam, or blown-in insulation work well.

If you plan to heat or cool your garage, you’ll need to insulate the garage ceiling. Insulating your garage ceiling will make your garage much more energy efficient and save on heating and cooling costs. Not only does insulation make your garage more energy efficient, it helps reduce noise and can extend the life of your garage roof. You can use fiberglass, cellulose, mineral wool, or spray foam insulation for this project.

In some cases, you may not have enough insulation to properly regulate your home’s temperature. Watch for a few signs your home needs more insulation, such as:

  • High heating and cooling bills

  • Uncomfortable room temperatures

  • Ice dams on the edge of your roof

  • Roof leaks

  • Cold floors and walls

  • Freezing pipes

  • Temperature fluctuations

  • Visibly low insulation

  • Noise problems

  • Pest problems

On average, insulating an attic costs about $2,500, ranging from $1,500 to $3,500, depending on the insulation type, amount, and your attic’s accessibility. Additional cost factors include sealing air leaks, removal or replacement of insulation, and inspections. Types of insulation include:

  • Blown-in: $1–$4 per square foot

  • Spray foam: $2–$5 per square foot

  • Batt: $2–$4 per square foot

  • Structural insulated panels: $4–$7 per square foot

  • Loose-fill: $2–$5 per square foot

  • Reflective: $0.50–$1.50 per square foot
