"I had a great experience with this company. They arrived on time, were very professional, and were able to fix our AC issue the same day. Their customer service was excellent, and they made sure everything was working properly before leaving. I really appreciate their quick response, quality work, and friendly service. "Mr. Cassal arrived to assess the AC problem. He found a bad leak in the evaporator coil; it would need to be replaced. He tracked one down an hour away and retrieved it himself. He showed up again on the dot and worked quietly and expertly within the confines of our HVAC closet. Completing the installation, he re-charged the system and tested it for leaks and cooling power. Two hot and dusty days later. The system is pumping out gloriously cool air. We would hire Cassal again in a heartbeat---highly recommended!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Replacing both an AC and a furnace takes a full day on average, ranging from eight to 12 hours. The process involves removing the old units, installing the new ones, and ensuring all connections are properly made. If both systems are being replaced simultaneously, it can take longer than installing a furnace alone, so plan accordingly.

You can buy a new AC capacitor through most big-box home improvement stores, from an HVAC contractor, or from the manufacturer. Use the model number of your air conditioning unit to make sure you purchase the right part for your unit. Also, keep in mind that the cost of this type of part can vary significantly depending on who you purchase it from, so shop around to get the best price.

A frosty expansion valve that isn't blowing out cool air is a sure sign that it’s time to replace it. It might also be time to replace the TXV valve if your AC unit switches off soon after turning on or if you have poor airflow in your home.

Yes, ventless portable air conditioners exist, and not all standard portable air conditioners must be vented through a window.

Ventless portable units, often called evaporative coolers, do not have exhaust hoses. They use a water reservoir and a cooling pad to add moisture to the air, making it feel cooler. These units work best in dry climates because humid areas cannot absorb much additional moisture.

For standard portable air conditioners that do require venting, a window is not the only option; they can also be vented through a door, wall, or ceiling. However, it is essential to vent these units properly. Running a standard portable AC without venting it is counterproductive because it needs to expel heat to cool the room. Failing to do so will only increase the room's temperature.

AC capacitors have a wide lifespan, ranging from five to 20 years, with an average of about 10 years. Many capacitors will last for the entire life of the air conditioning unit, and most homeowners only need to replace one once. A capacitor should only be replaced if an HVAC professional diagnoses a problem with it. Premature failure can be caused by overheating, power surges, or short circuits. You can help extend the life of your AC capacitor by scheduling regular AC maintenance each year.
