Customers say: True professional

"Micah is a wizard with plaster color and texture. He fixed our Variance plaster, matching it perfectly. He was punctual, professional, and did an amazing job fixing our rotunda, which is the showcase of our residence. We had been told that there was no way to match the texture and color and we would have to pay thousands of dollars to replanted the entire rotunda. Micah was able to fix everything for a fraction of the cost. We highly recommend Illusions for any work of this type."

"The crew showed up every morning on time. They patched/drywalled and textured numerous small areas. The texturing was so good, that it is almost impossible to detect where the repairs where made. They also framed, drywalled and textured the kitchen area for recessed lighting installation. They repaired an area where there was a shower leak. They replaced the drywall and textured an area where a closet had been removed. On every part of the project, they exhibited superior workmanship. And at the end of every day, they cleaned up after themselves. Hire them again? Definitely yes!

"After reading some reviews on Angi I choose Elevare Builders to repair hole in my garage ceiling caused by a leaking canale. On 4/22 I requested a quote through the Angi website and within a hour got a follow up call from Liz at Elevare. Since it was a small job, I offered to text Liz some pictures so I could get an estimate of the work I needed done. After reviewing the pictures, Liz texted back an estimate the next morning which I accepted and scheduled the repair for 4/25 between 07:00 and 08:00. On 4/25 the tech, Ruben, arrived 08:00 and began work, which took about an hour, and when he finished it looked like the leak never happened. His work was excellent. I would definitely recommend Elevare. Liz gave great costumer support, Ruben arrived at the appointed time, and the work was done quickly and efficiently. Elevare did a wonderful job."

"It was a free estimate.Actually, we haven't even signed the papers; he's giving us fair estimate I guess. I haven't had any work you know. He hasn't done the work, but I just feel he's fair priced and being the father of somebody I know, you know. He's going to do some stucco on the heliport on the roof because what it is a raised side around the roof and it has had lots of damage. This house when we bought it had been rental so I think we've bought the house from the money pit if you have seen the money. But anyway he's going to redo that and I have to have so re plastering and stuff inside and there's a doggy door out back. He's going to fix the stucco on the back porch and redo the wall and put insulation in there and take the doggy door out. So yeah he's got a lot of little projects here. I just feel like I can trust this man. He seems very good at what he does."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.

Technically speaking, you can use drywall primer over plasters. However, oil-based primers work the most effectively on wall plasters. Meanwhile, water-based primers work just as well with drywalls. Nowadays, there are also universal primers suitable for drywall and plaster. Overall, you will be fine as long as you are using a trustworthy brand.

Your walls are likely cracking due to fluctuations in the temperature outside. Drywall tends to expand and contract when temperatures and humidity levels change, and this repeated movement can lead to cracks in your walls, particularly around door frames. If you have multiple diagonal cracks, you may want to have your foundation inspected, as cracks can also be a sign of a bigger issue.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.
