"CMC Electric immediately responded to our request for three ceiling fan installments. They offered to come out and give a quote and to complete the task immediately following if the quote was acceptable. We received a better rate than anticipated and the work was done perfectly. All three fans were different and required differences with installation. To operate with remotes and one is connected to double switches on the wall. The mounts are perfect and the fans operate wonderfully. DJ Whiter was the electrician who helped us. He was friendly, professional very neat in the work areas and communicated well to make sure that each installation was exactly what we desired. We are extremely pleased and will definitely use CMC Electric again. We highly recommend."

"We were very happy with the work completed by Leon Home Repairs. They were efficient and thorough. The work included installing a new countertop, sink, faucet,, and light fixture in one bathroom and painting the bathroom; removing painted wallpaper from one large wall and smoothing and painting the wall; replacing one set of bifold closet doors and trimming off and adjusting multiple other sets so they would operate smoothly; and replacing large window panels and the door in our front entryway. Dimas, who served as the foreman for the work on our house, also smelled gas in our utility closet and on his own initiative, figured out where the gas leak was and showed us, so we could call someone to come repair that. The team had an excellent range of skills and knowledge to tackle the variety of work we needed them to do. We will definitely call Leon Home Repairs again if we need more work done in the future."

"Doug and Josh showed up promptly, and spent some time determining the best location for the exterior outlet. The installation was then done and turned out well. The bathroom fan was a bit large for the existing cutout, but that was taken care of quickly. I am quite pleased with the outcome. Professionally handled and efficiently completed."

"Excellent - from start - choosing our stone - to finish - taking care of small issues left over from the installation. Office staff were very attentive, responded quickly to questions, took responsibility for issues until the job was done (even after we had paid in full). On-site staff were friendly, efficient, got the job done quickly and well. The craftsmen they recommended (tile, plumber) were excellent as well (we used a local plumber instead of their recommendation but we needed to get the recommended plumber in to finish the job correctly)."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

The most efficient ceiling fan height is 8 to 9 feet from the floor to the fan blades. For ceilings higher than 9 feet, a downrod can be used to lower the fan to the optimal height. This positioning ensures adequate air circulation and maximizes the cooling effect. Remember, fans should be installed at least 7 feet above the floor for safety.

Yes, you can run an attic fan with the AC on. In fact, you don’t have a choice with a passive attic fan. Plus, when an attic fan draws out hot air from the attic, it helps regulate the temperature of your whole home, so your AC doesn't have to work as hard.

A tripped circuit breaker, broken pull chain, faulty wiring, or a bad motor or capacitor are all common causes for a fan to stop working.

The lifespan of an attic fan depends on the type. Passive fans can last 40 to 50 years, while electric and solar models typically last 10 to 15 years. You can extend the life of your fan with regular maintenance, such as cleaning the fan blades and shutters and checking for moisture. For professional service, you can consult a local attic fan installer or have an HVAC technician clean, oil, and inspect the unit for potential issues.

Never add oil unless the fan is specifically designed for it. Most modern ceiling fans are designed with sealed bearings that don’t require oiling. However, some older fans may have oil ports for lubrication. If your fan is older and you hear squeaking or grinding, check the manual or the manufacturer’s website to see if oiling is recommended.
