"Excellent Aire Serve is a awesome company. Billy Bullard recommended a first rate Lennox heat pump for a low price. The Technicians were on time, very polite, and worked hard. They actually stayed over until the job is done. I am extremely happy with my new Lennox system, and would definitely recommend Aire Serve to anyone."

"I would absolutely recommend Cool Comfort Heating & Air Company.  I have dual systems installed by them in my home.  They replaced one of them in the spring last year.  They are the only ones I use.  I would continue to use them in the future."

"With over 15 years experience with Bradham Bros. the purchase, paperwork, installation and system startup all went well. Important as well, I received a Piedmont Natural Gas rebate check and 0% financing for 60 months."

"Terry S and his assistant Dave D arrived on time, put down tarps in the basement to keep carpets clean, removed old water heater and installed new heater all before lunchtime. They simplified the water piping and cleaned up thoroughly. Both were extremely knowledgeable and courteous, and explained the temperature setting and recommended maintenance requirements. I will ask for them again for any future plumbing work."

"Outstanding service. Bryan was the technician and he was very professional, on-time, an even though it was not an emergency situation (heat was working, just loudly), he called around to find the part and have it installed within a few hours. Was so impressed, I asked them to provide periodic service on my heat pump unit."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The cost-efficiency of baseboard heaters depends on the type and how you use them. Generally, standard electric baseboard heaters can be expensive to run because they use electric resistance heating, which is less energy-efficient than systems like forced-air or heat pumps. However, hydronic and gas versions are typically much cheaper to operate. Hydronic models are more energy-efficient because they heat a liquid that retains warmth longer, preventing the thermostat from turning on and off as often. The overall running cost is also influenced by local electricity rates, your home's insulation, and your usage habits. To increase efficiency, you can use baseboard heaters for zoning, meaning you only heat the specific rooms you are using.

No, boilers and water heaters are not interchangeable because they serve different primary functions. Boilers are used for central heating systems, providing hot water or steam to heat your home. In contrast, a water heater's purpose is to supply hot water for daily household use, such as for faucets and showers. A water heater alone cannot supply the warm water or steam needed for a central heating system.

While they are not interchangeable, it is common to have both a boiler and a water heater. In fact, a conventional boiler often works best when a water heater system is already in place. The two systems can be combined to provide both heating and hot water, either by pairing a boiler with an indirect water heater or by installing a premade combination boiler-water heater unit. For home heating, some homeowners may also opt for a furnace instead of a boiler.

Depending on the size of your home and system, as well as any upgrades or add-ons you choose, it may take between three and five days to completely replace an existing HVAC system from start to finish. Your contractor should be able to give you an estimate before they begin the actual replacement.

If you hear your radiator clanking even when it’s turned off, it’s typically because there’s trapped water or air in the system, causing a pressure buildup. When you hear significant clanking, popping, crackling, or banging in a radiator that’s turned off, you’ll want to bleed the pipes or call in an HVAC specialist to deal with the problem (and prevent it from happening in the future).

Chilled water HVAC systems use water instead of traditional components and refrigerants. They're more common in commercial settings than residential ones but are slowly being adopted by some homebuilders to cool homes. As the name implies, the system keeps the water chilled at 40 degrees and circulates it through water coils. The water absorbs the heat from your home and drains outdoors. Condo apartments are more likely to have chilled water HVAC than single-family homes because this system is designed to cool several rooms or large areas individually.
