"Airv Serve installed our original, complete AC/heat pump system. After our system was hit by lightning, they quickly came out and accessed the damage, replaced one of our units, and performed maintenance on another. The charges were exactly as quoted. Our new system runs beautifully, and their service was timely. We highly recommend them."

"We called another heating/cooling company for a promotional tuneup of our cooling/heating systems. We have furnace/air for our downstairs and a heat pump for our upstairs. They did some routine work and found a major problem with our heat pump system, wanted an arm and a leg to fix it. I called our home-owners warranty company who works with American Air Heating and Cooling. For the price of our deductible, American fixed it, timely and efficiently. Chris Jones did all of the work and I would recommend American and Mr. Jones for any heating/cooling challenges that you might have. A very clean neat job. He wore footies over his shoes when he came inside and removed all of the used parts. Some of the work that the competitor recommended was not necessary. I would guess that the competitor has to pay for their tv ? promotional advertising somehow. The work was done in Nov. 2013 and has been working fine since then."

"Vinny and his associate worked out in the cold with such friendly and courteous attitudes.  His professionalism and expertise was well know throughout the community.  Most people just know him and call him by his first name.
He took the time to explain everything before and then in detail after diagnosis.  He needed a part and had it within a day.
After the work was done he again explained all he details of the service.
I will call him again for any service and maintenance on my HVAC system.

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The absence of heating or hot water, unusual noises like banging or gurgling, and visible water leakage are key signs. Abnormal boiler pressure, flame irregularities (for gas boilers), or pilot light issues may also signal trouble. Frequent cycling, soot or staining, and unusual odors, particularly gas-like smells, should not be ignored. Modern boilers often display error codes or lockout mode upon detecting issues. Uneven heating across radiators and rising energy bills without increased usage can further point to problems. Prompt attention to these signs is essential to prevent further damage and ensure safety.

You can replace baseboard heaters with many other types of HVAC systems, including forced-air furnaces, hydronic heating, and heat pumps. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, so the best choice for you will depend on your budget, preferences, and the design of your house. If you aren’t sure which option is right for you, ask an HVAC pro for guidance.

Warmed or cooled air can escape your home through drafty windows and doors. If you notice any gaps, be sure to caulk and seal them. You can also hire a local pro for an energy audit to get a list of energy-saving recommendations.

Finally, check your insulation. It can settle in over time and become less effective. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that you can save an average of 15% on heating and cooling costs (or 11% of total energy costs) by sealing leaks and making sure attics, crawl spaces, and basements have a nice layer of insulation.

Unless they are connected to the same system, boilers and water heaters will both need their own expansion tanks. The only case they wouldn’t have separate expansion tanks is if the boiler is pulling double duty and managing a heating system while also supplying hot water for a home. In which case, you may not need a hot water heater.

You can save money on heating oil through a combination of improving home efficiency and smart purchasing strategies.

Home Efficiency and Usage:

  • Improve Insulation: Ensure your home, especially the basement and attic, is well-insulated and sealed against drafts to prevent heat leakage.

  • Manage Your Thermostat: Use a properly calibrated and programmable thermostat. Lower the temperature by a few degrees, particularly when you are away from home or asleep.

Purchasing Strategies:

  • Buy in the Off-Season: Order heating oil during the summer months when prices are generally at their lowest. This strategy is most effective if you have a large primary tank or a separate storage tank to accommodate bulk deliveries.

  • Consider a Delivery Contract: Some companies offer contracts with a set price for the term. This can lead to savings if market prices for oil increase, but you might pay more if prices drop.
