"Tracy and Darren are excellent workmen for a great value. We had the best experience with Carolina Comfort Air Inc with these two workmen replaced our HVAC. Our response time was excellent and the job was completed within 24 hours. Tracy was very knowledgeable and teachable about our new HVAC. Definitely, would recommend them to others."

"Ducts were cleaned as we contracted for. When they finished the HVAC ducts they said they would do the dryer vent as a complimentary service. I told them I had recently cleaned it and they would probably not get much lint out of the vent. I was amazed at all they got out and it was at no additional charge."

"Josh & Mike came w/in 2 hours of my non-emergency call. Mike 1. Cleaned A/C coils with a deep penetrating foam; 2 Insured freon level,(our s was 1lb low); 3 Placed 1 lb freon in outside unit; & 4 Mike insured A/C temp had gone down - which I couldn t believe the COLD temp readings Mike was getting from each of our 11 registers! Below 40 degrees!! Then Mike showed me the window temps throughout the house: 78-87!! Outside temp was 93 degrees! Eventually, our home reached 73 degrees, My Goal! I cannot Praise Mike & Josh enough for their Promptness, Courtesy & Professionalism! ServTechs H&A is now our Go-To Help. BTW, our 1.5 ton unit is 32 years old! With regular maintenance and service, our unit has outlived it s projected lifespan. Give Josh a call: 910-644-5853 today! Thanks Guys!! A Job Well Done!!! Bo"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can clean AC coils yourself. Just make sure that the power to your AC system is off before you begin. You’ll need some basic tools and supplies, including a soft brush, cloth, screwdriver, and a commercial or homemade cleaning solution. Cleaning your coils will only cost about $10.

The cost to install a ductless mini-split AC system ranges from $2,000 to $14,000, depending on the type of unit, the number of zones or rooms, and the complexity of the installation. On the low end, a system for one or two zones in a single room costs around $2,000. Covering two zones for more rooms can cost between $6,000 and $8,000. For a larger multi-zone system to cover an entire home, costs can be $14,000. If you don’t already have an AC system in place, you may need to add the cost of permits, an electrician, and a concrete pad.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.

Evaporator coils in HVAC systems typically last around 10 to 15 years. However, their life span can be longer or shorter based on factors like the frequency of your HVAC system usage, whether regular maintenance is performed, and environmental conditions. Regular maintenance, such as HVAC system cleaning and coil inspection, can extend the durability and efficiency of your evaporator coil.

If your whole house is cold that’s one thing, but what if you only have a few rooms that are cold? First, you need to determine why this may be happening. A good place to start is to investigate the potential causes listed in this article—heat transfer, airflow, thermostat problems, humidity, and insulation. Once you’ve narrowed down the issue, you’d apply the same principles to the cold rooms as you would to the entire home.
