"Utilizing All Service Moving for the move was a very positive experience. They had good communication, answering several questions prior to the move and did a final confirmation just prior to the move date. As for the physical move itself, Jose, Abraham, and Alberto were polite, diligent, and careful moving the many items, and managed to complete the move more quickly than anticipated."

"Easy Movers moved me from an apartment to a rental house and then a storage facility. They were on time, polite and efficient. I found them through Angi and chose them because they were willing to move my piano. Months later I planned a more permanent move and was pleased that Gena in the office and Don the estimator were still with the company. The 3 men who moved me were excellent each time. I highly recommend them."

"I recently hired this company to move my two-bedroom apartment, and they did an amazing job from start to finish. The team arrived on time, worked efficiently, and handled all of my furniture and boxes with great care. They wrapped everything properly, made sure nothing was damaged, and even helped place items exactly where I wanted them in my new place. What really stood out was how friendly, patient, and professional the movers were the entire time. They made the whole process stress-free and way easier than I expected. If you?re looking for a reliable, hardworking moving company, I definitely recommend them. I?d hire them again without hesitation!"

"We loved the move crews on both ends of the move. Freddy and his team were awesome 👌 but the communication from the scheduling office was great in the beginning but totally fell apart just before and during the move. The move was totally under estimated and total internal miscommunication to the move team on what the move consisted of. It was thought to only be a load and move. Not the "White Glove" service we purchased to pack, load and move. So price was off and the move team was not fully prepared. Freddy and his team stepped up and made the move a success. Even made an extra run to the warehouse to get the packing materials needed and packed everything professionally so that everything arrived intact and timely. They lso made a special trip to get all our household goods to us within a week. But the moved totally started as a disaster. Make sure the planner fully understands everything that needs to be moved and estimates high enough to ensure you are covered and don't end up with a severely underestimated move price. Again hats off to the move team. But the company needs to rethink how they plan and schedule the moves. Especially out of state when there are deadlines associated with the move."

Moving questions, answered by experts

A DIY move is cheaper than paying movers. However, hiring professional movers can save you time and stress.

Yes, it is cheaper to move yourself than to hire professional movers. The average DIY move costs $120 to $2,300, while professionals cost $890 to $2,570 on average or up to $12,000 for the longest distances. While you’ll save on the cost of professional labor with a DIY move, you’ll spend more time and energy packing, loading, transporting, unloading, and unpacking.

There are several effective ways to save money when hiring a moving company, primarily by handling some tasks yourself and being strategic with scheduling. Consider these methods:

  • Pack Your Own Belongings: You can significantly reduce costs by packing and protecting your items yourself. This includes wrapping delicate items, organizing them into boxes, and taping the boxes closed. You can use towels, clothes, and suitcases to pack belongings and protect breakables.

  • Provide Your Own Materials: Source free packing materials from friends and family, or reuse boxes and bubble wrap from a previous move.

  • Schedule Strategically: Book your move well in advance. Rates are often lower if you schedule your move on a weekday during the off-season, which typically runs from October through April.

  • Compare Quotes: Get moving quotes from at least three professional movers in your area. This allows you to compare services and choose the best value.

  • Ask for Discounts: Inquire if the moving company offers any special coupons or deals.

  • Purchase Moving Insurance: Protect your investment by purchasing moving insurance, especially for expensive or antique belongings.

  • Divide the Labor: While you can save money by packing, it's wise to leave the more dangerous and physically demanding work—like loading, unloading, and moving heavy furniture—to the professionals.

Surprisingly, no! For most house moves, you can keep everything inside as is, although we’d recommend taking out any sentimental or extremely fragile items. You’ll need to fully empty your basement or crawl space, but otherwise, your home can be moved with everything intact. Your movers will also be able to provide you with further guidance.

Moving a one-bedroom apartment yourself can range from $150 to more than $1,500, depending on distance, the amount of belongings you have, and more. On the other hand, the cost of hiring movers for a one-bedroom apartment is around $1,850 on average. You’ll save money with the DIY route, but the process is much more labor-intensive and time-consuming.
