"Contacted Duggins about developing a strategy to repair or replace aging heating equipment in our home.
They developed a plan that was a reasonable cost.  They were attentive to our requests.
Installed a new system for the downstairs zone and repaired the upstairs unit.
New unit performs well and is a great improvemtn compared to old unit.  Our gas bill dropped a lot.

"Alan came to fix our unit. He was a pleasant young man. He was on time, knowledgeable, professional and fixed the problem efficiently.
The igniter on our furnace needed to be replaced. After diagnosing the problem, Alan had a list of several repairs and services we could choose to do for our furnace.  $700.00 was at the top of the list, I don?t remember what all was included but I knew we did not want that. The bottom of the list was called a  Band-Aid repair for $243.00. But, it was not how it sounded, a temporary fix; it was to ?completely? repair the problem that we were having.
The cost to put a new universal, moisture resistant, top quality nitrate igniter in our furnace  was  $243.00.  Alan had explained before he looked at our furnace that if we decided 'not' to have him repair it we would still owe the $75.00 for diagnosing the problem. It made sense to me for them to charge for a service call if we decided not to have them do the work.
Alan was here for 35 minutes. I had an Angie?s List coupon for $25.00 so the total I paid was $218.00. The cost seemed high even with the coupon and Alan could not give me a breakdown of the charges nor was it on my bill.
I called Charles Miller a few days later to get that information. I had checked out the costs of ignition systems online and the
most expensive one I could find was for $77.00. Charles explained that he was using new software for his company and that
it did not break down part and labor charges but, the charges included amounts for other things like warranties and other business expenses. He spent a long time explaining this new system to me how it uses a flat rate book, etc. etc. He finally looked up the cost of the part. It listed for $41.50 and they increase parts by 2.8%, which made the total for the part $116.20. (Another way of stating this would be that Miller?s charges almost 300% more than the listed price.)
So their normal rate (without a coupon) for replacing an igniter is $243.00, minus labor $75.00 and minus the part $116.20 = $51.80 for other expenses.  Charles is a very nice man and I think fair-minded man and his charges are what they are. I was having such a hard time understanding his pricing system, as it is so different than what I am used to, that he sent me a refund of some of the monies I paid, which I very much appreciated.

"Our motor burned out the week before Christmas during the night. I called Alpine and the serviceman was at our home the next morning.
He determined the problem, let us know the cost and the part was ordered immediately. He installed the part as soon as it came in. We have been standing customers with Alpine and the prior HVAC company with a service plan. We appreciated their responsiveness and flexibility. R Hall Durham

"We used Pro Plumbing twice, once for service and a second time to replace my water heater. Both times they were prompt and professional. The service fee for just coming out to troubleshoot was inexpensive, which was greatly appreciated. For the installation of my water heater, their rates were competitive with other plumbers in the area. The service tech (Fletcher) was knowledgeable and explained everything in detailed. He was also patient while I asked him loads of questions, and he offered me lots of options for units and how he could install them to fit our tight closet. Everything seems to be working great (it has been about 6 weeks)! I would definitely hire them again."

"Excellent! I was in a bind because my air conditioner went out and I really wanted to at least get a ceiling fan installed so I could survive the heat. Gerald responded immediately, was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He was patient with me and my lack of knowledge. He explained things to me as he went along. He did such an excellent job installing the ceiling fan that I had him install a new light fixture as well. I will definitely be having him come back out to install some recessed lights in my kitchen. I can not recommend him more highly! He takes pride in his work and is a man of his word! Hire him. You won’t regret it. I sure don’t!"

"Jim is local.  It went great. Jim Ferrell is a professional of the highest caliber. Responded quickly, took care of my problems, and advised me as to better means of protection than I had. He came back a second time to uninstall software that I purchased that did not provide adequate protections and installed free software that would do the job.  He did the work through remote connection, but is available on site if necessary.
For those people needing help on getting red of malware, viruses , etc. on your computer,  Jim is local, better than all thse remote out of state location providers, is a mature, highly trained professional in this area.
If you go to local computer stores you get very young people that can do a basic job, but are no where near the professional level of Jim.
I highly recommend Jim to anyone that needs these type services.

"The work required replacing units outside and inside our attic. The outside unit went quickly and as expected. Unfortunately the inside unit did not go as expected and took much longer to remove. The old unit was at least twice as large as the new unit. Also since the house was without A/C the interior temperature of the house was 80+ and the attic was over 140. They wisely took many water breaks and worked into the evening trying to finish in one day but could not. As this was an extremely hot week locally they had to do some other quick service calls locally the next morning and did not finish the whole job until late Thursday. Given the heat and extra work involved with removing the old unit and installing the new unit this did not surprise me. The crew and electrical subcontractor all did excellent jobs and we are now enjoying cold air and constant temperatures. The job was delivered at the quoted price.
I recommend Marshall Heating and Air and will use them again in the future if we do other upgrades to our system.

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Boiler installations and replacements cost between $3,600 to $8,400. Expect to pay around $5,900 on average for a new boiler, including installation. Adding new radiators or heaters to the boiler may include separate costs if you are also upgrading those components, so the final price may be higher. To decrease costs, you can look for local energy rebates for using a boiler and wait until installers are offering discounts for a first-time installation.

If you're often struggling with radiator issues like chilly spots, leaks, or annoying noises, those are common indications that your radiator may need to be replaced. Corrosion, uneven heating, and persistent hissing sounds are common issues as well. When repairs become a regular chore and your home’s energy bills start to rise, a new radiator will bring the comfort and savings you need.

Propane is more cost-efficient than natural gas on a per-unit basis because it produces twice as much heat energy as an equivalent amount of natural gas. But propane is not ideal if you already have a gas line installed. The best choice for your home depends on the efficiency of your appliances and the amount of installation required of your fuel choice.

If you hear your radiator clanking even when it’s turned off, it’s typically because there’s trapped water or air in the system, causing a pressure buildup. When you hear significant clanking, popping, crackling, or banging in a radiator that’s turned off, you’ll want to bleed the pipes or call in an HVAC specialist to deal with the problem (and prevent it from happening in the future).

On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.
