"Yes, AJ’s Quality Painting was everything we wanted. They came in and did the work. My brothers and I are very pleased. Once the quote was given and we agreed Afias and Josephina went straight to work. The paint job, ceiling and the wall he had to repair in one of the bedroom’s was beautifully done. They are very professional and kept constant communication with me about when they were going to the house and when they would be done. We did a walk through and our parents home is so bright and beautiful with the paint we chose. We had a family friend to come over and she really loved the color and work. She plans on using the color for her home during the Spring. I will most definitely recommend AJ’s Quality Painting to anyone who needs home services. Thank you both for the work done."

Small jobs welcome

"I am extremely pleased with the work that Denmai painting has done in my home. I hired Denmai because their painting quote was much lower than other quotes I had received. The quality and professionalism from Denmai is second to none. I will be using Denmai again for all of my painting needs."

Painting questions, answered by experts

A five-gallon bucket of deck stain will cover roughly 875 square feet in a single coat. Actual coverage will vary based on the type of wood you’re staining and the number of coats. If you plan on doing multiple coats, multiply the square footage by the number of coats to calculate how many buckets of stain you’ll need.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.

Select based on wood type, climate tolerance, and personal preference for color and finish, with choices like oil-based stains for longevity.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.
