"Refloor is extremely organized and professional. Their communication alone was 5 stars. They were extremely patient, answered all of my questions and my floors turned out beautiful. They moved all of my furniture, installed the flooring, cleaned up and put all of my furniture back. They were over the top friendly and confident. I would definitely recommend Refloor!"

"I had water damage that caused my subfloor to bubble up (and in turn the linoleum). I had the subfloor for that portion of the kitchen replaced. Empire provided me with a quote to replace the linoleum that I felt was a little high, but the sales rep was very friendly and was attentive to my needs, so I let it slide. When they came to replace the linoleum (it ended up having to be the whole kitchen's worth), they just added the new layer of linoleom over the old layer. While I understand that is done sometimes, I didn't realize that was the plan when I signed the contract. My doors don't fully open without scraping the new layer, and the floor is a little "squishy" when you walk. I wish they had communicated with me a little more about how they were going to replace the floor."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

What a buyer prefers usually depends on the home’s layout and which material fits the current aesthetic. The local real estate market can also dictate these desires to some extent, as do the buyer’s personal preferences. With that said, laminate can increase the resale value of a home by a tiny bit, whereas carpet does not. Hardwood increases the resale value by the highest amount.

The need to replace your flooring depends on the type of flooring and the amount of wear and tear it experiences through foot traffic. For example, you should replace carpet every ten years, but other, more durable options like tile can last up to 30 years. It’s best to speak with your flooring installation professional to determine the best course for replacing your flooring.

No, everything doesn’t get wet if the bathroom is well-designed and the fixtures are properly installed. It’s important that the floor of a wet room drains correctly, and proper waterproofing and slip-resistant flooring are used to avoid creating slipping hazards. Since the shower isn’t housed in an enclosed space, you’ll need to make sure the towel rack and toilet paper holder are placed in areas where they won’t get wet.

While it's possible to cover asbestos tile with carpet, it's not recommended. Encapsulating tile beneath carpet doesn't eliminate the health risks. Over time, the asbestos tiles could degrade, releasing fibers into the air and potentially contaminating the carpet. Disturbance during carpet installation or removal might also release fibers.

You can tell a carpet is good quality if it’s made of a soft, durable material and has a good face weight and density. When comparing two similar carpets, the higher the face weight, the more durable the carpet tends to be. The same goes for carpet density. A higher density of two similar carpets often indicates better quality. The ideal carpet face weight and density values depend on the carpet material and type.
