"Jesus and his team take projects seriously. They communicate details well, treat your home with care, and perform a meticulous and professional job. They complete your project to your satisfaction and everything will be clean when the job is completed. I found Jesus and his team to be hard-working and they take pride in their work. "They were pricy, but came highly recommended. They were prompt in scheduling. Their main selling point is the quality of the prep cleaning. While the new deck looked OK, there were missed areas on the existing porch. The quality of the staining itself was variable - there were areas where they did a great job, and others that were missed, overlooked, or intentionally ignored. The eaves were among the intentionally ignored, and I was told "that's defined as part of the roof structure, which isn't included." Excuse me, but the contract says "clean and stain exterior of screen porch" - it does not say "screen porch walls only." Another ignored area was the top edge of the fascia and floorboards, which they stained above, and below, leaving a gap. And there were several other spots that were overlooked even after a visit to complete punch list items. I asked multiple times to talk to the owner but he never called me back. Next time I'll just hire a real house painter."

"Narciso was wonderful and stress free to work with from the initial estimate until the final payment. We found him and his employees prompt, professional, and did excellent work. His price was fair and reasonable. They even game on the 4th of July to touch up, and to our surprise, cleaned the front window by the doors. We also hired them to power wash our walk/driveway and clean the gutters. We have had more than a few compliments on our home. Without a doubt, from now on, Paz Painting will be our go-to for any painting, pressure washing, or gutters cleaning needs."

"Outstanding workmanship and quality of work. They have literally restored my 26 y/o deck to like new condition. They arrive on time and do their work quietly and efficiently. They go above and beyond in their workmanship. The estimate was nearly on the mark for repairs. As a veteran, I really appreciate their discount of 10%, it is a step beyond "Thank You For Your Service.""

"I regret trusting the positive reviews. I suppose it depends on what subcontractor is sent. Only 1 junior resource showed up on day 1 and started painting. Brush strokes locked into paint everywhere. Cut in wall paint over ran line at ceiling into ceiling. Paint dripped into light switches. Day 1 is supposed to be all prep, nail pops not addressed before painting started! Day 2 senior resource joined him. Missed many nail pops and rushing to address them after painting had already started meant uneven lumps and dimples over shoddy nail pop repair, and repainting over that meant difference in sheen. When replacing deck screens used poor technique with power drill/screwdriver and stripped all the screws. Paint hand and fingerprints over the screens. They worked really hard but in effect were 1.5 resources for a large job and were rushing and making mistakes. Very polite but end product subpar."

"We hired Tanner and his crew to paint our two bedroom condo in between renters. We do not live in the area, so we inquired about the possibility of meeting for a quote and having the work done over back-to-back days. Tanner was willing to meet with us on very short notice to provide a quote for the work and was then able to, again, complete the work in a very quick time frame (the next day). In my estimation, his quote was fair. He shared his company's policies, including the use of the same crew throughout a project, a walk-through at the end of the project, and respecting the home by using drop cloths and vacuuming after the job was complete. They matched the paint to the color previously on the walls for us.
On the morning that our job was to be completed, I met with the painters and let them into the house. We exchanged numbers, and they knew I'd be around the corner waiting for the job to be done (rather than waiting in the house itself). They said they would call when the job was complete. Around 5:15, when I received a call from the painters saying the job was complete, I headed back over. However, they were not completely done. The crew was finishing touching up the trim, but the majority of the work was complete. The paint job on the walls was beautiful. They told me it would be about another 20 more minutes.
The only thing that I had noticed while I was there that bothered me, was that they were not using dropcloths and the paint buckets were sitting on the carpet without anything underneath. In my quick glance around the house, I was focused on the paint on the walls, and everything else all seemed fine, so I did not bother to comment. There was a lot of debris on the floor, from sanding, filling in nail holes, etc.. and dried paint from the paint cans. This did not concern me as it was part of the agreed upon service for them to vacuum when the job was done, and they were not yet fully done.
I still had a few more errands to run to fully prep our house for the new tenant, and wanted to head back out of town that night. Because everything up until this point had gone exactly as arranged, I did write the check and provided it to the painter - this was my mistake. When I returned about 30 minutes later, the painters were gone. The floors had not been vacuumed at all and upon walking around to pick up some of the bigger pieces of debris, I did find some paint drops on the carpet.
As previously mentioned, I live out of town and did not have a vacuum with me. Prior to the paint job, the carpet had been steam-cleaned to prepare for the new tenant. I was embarrassed to leave the floors the way they were with a new tenant moving in the following week. The next day, after I had returned home, I reached out to Tanner to express my concern over how the house had been left. I didn't ask, nor was I looking, for money to be returned, but in my opinion not much was done to remedy the situation. Instead of an apology, Tanner said he had spoken with his painters who had "insisted" they had vacuumed, and discounted my complaint, saying that I had not been in the house since the job was complete.
While it is the right thing to back your employers, it is another thing to discount the customer. After my asking, Tanner "agreed" to have the painters return to the house and meet with our new tenant to vacuum the house. As proof of the lack of clean up, I sent him several pictures of the carpet, with the rings from the paint buckets still in the carpet, and obvious debris on the floor, including several nails that had been removed from the walls. As "agreed" upon, I sent him the time frame for which our new tenant would arrive so we could arrange a time to have the painters vacuum. I did not receive any further communication back from Tanner after sending the photographic evidence of the lack of cleaning and paint drops. Again, we were not really looking for money to be returned to us, but no gesture was offered to remedy or even acknowledge the drops of paint on the carpet or the condition in which the house was left. As the date of when our tenant arrived has come and gone with no word from Tanner, we arranged for other means with the tenant directly.
Overall, we were pleased with the actual paint job, but very disappointed by the end clean up and how the situation was handled. Perhaps if I had been in the house during the painting, or if the house had looked like it was filled with our household goods, they might have used the drop cloths more faithfully. I also learned my lesson on providing payment before a job is 100% complete. I would recommend Five Star Painting with the advice of having more personal oversight to the job that is being completed.

FAQs for deck staining projects in Creedmoor, NC

You should paint your home exterior every five to 10 years, on average. Climate and surroundings can affect how well paint holds up. Wood siding will likely need a fresh coat of paint every three to seven years. Paint on brick tends to last about eight to 17 years, on average.

There are a few ways to make your deck look new without professional power washing. First, you can use either store-bought cleaners or dish soap and water to mop your deck regularly to clean off accumulated dirt. To clean your deck and remove mold, mix two gallons of warm water with a ½ cup of distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar, rinse the area, and then scrub with a stiff-bristled broom.

The cost to professionally pressure wash your deck is $150 on average. This cost can range from $100 to $600, depending on the size of your deck and its condition.

For an average deck of about 300 square feet, you can expect to pay around $100. However, if you have a spacious 1,000-square-foot deck or more, expect that cost to be closer to $300 to $400. Likewise, if it’s been a long time since you deep cleaned your deck, the deck professional might need extra time and to use deck-specific detergent, which will increase the overall cost.

To calculate the square footage of a home exterior, painters multiply the length of the wall by the height of the wall to be painted. Then they add the total square footage for all of the walls to be painted. To calculate the price, they multiply the total square footage by their cost per square foot to prep and paint. Additional costs may factor in such as repairs, additional trim, and walls higher than the first story.

The cost to paint the exterior of a house ranges from $1,900 to $4,500 or about $1.50 to $4 per square foot, depending on the size, height, and complexity of the home layout. Other cost factors include your location, the type of siding (e.g., wood, aluminum, brick, stucco, etc.), and the kind of paint (e.g. oil-based, latex, acrylic, etc.). Painting the trim a different color or painting intricately designed trim can also increase the cost.
