"Clee and the crew were fantastic to work with. From the beginning when he came out to do a thorough walk-around of the home explaining what services were available, estimated time frames, and taking notes of the things I wanted to make sure were addressed, to his final visit after the crew was done to make sure we were completely satisfied, it was a great experience. The entire exterior of the home was washed beforehand. Shutters were taken down, cleaned and painted. The wrought iron was wire brushed by hand to remove some light surface rust before being repainted. The exterior door weather stripping was removed before they were painted. Every detail was attended to and the crew was on time, on point every day. It rained a few times in the three weeks it took to get the job done. While I was a bit concerned at first, I realized that they've been doing this a long time and I wouldn't be the first home they were painting and dealing with rain. Needless to say, it all worked out fine. I can't say enough good things about the team and the work they did. We've had a number of people in the neighborhood make very positive remarks about how it turned out. Thanks Clee!"

"Jesus and his team take projects seriously. They communicate details well, treat your home with care, and perform a meticulous and professional job. They complete your project to your satisfaction and everything will be clean when the job is completed. I found Jesus and his team to be hard-working and they take pride in their work. "Silva's Painting powerwashed my deck, screened porch, and ceiling then came back to paint them. Everything was done perfectly and has held up. I highly recommend David Silva and his crew for excellent work and friendly service. I am so glad he was introduced to me by a friend who would not let anyone else work on his house because of the quality of service. Ben"

"Mr. Evans and his team were upfront with their pricing, what I should expect during and after the exterior painting and were accessible via phone and email. The power washing team carefully removed my front port cha-cha so they could do a more detailed job - thanks. We were unsure of the stain we should apply on our front porch concrete and our wooden stairs, Mr. Evans provided suggestions. We defaulted to his opinion - we've received multiple compliments from our family and neighbors. We had four estimates, the others were very polite but the Evans team delivered. "Narciso and his team repainted our guest bedroom, guest bathroom and did touch-ups around our house to perfection. It started out with very dark paint, and the switch to light colors required 4 coats! And they did a beautiful job. Within 24 hours of calling, Narciso came to our house. The next day, he emailed us a quote. We signed the contract and his team started painting the next morning. The cost was very reasonable, particularly in comparison to another highly rated company’s quote. We will be using them again for future jobs."

"I have owned my house 20 years and there are very few contractors that I would use again. I got 6 quotes before I decided on Cortes Painting. I have had my house painted 3 times with other painting companies and Jose & crew did the best job. They repaired a bunch of bad siding and fixed a sagging fence too! I am so pleased with the way my house looked after they finished. I plan to use them next spring to put a fresh coat of paint on my porch and deck too. A great experience all around! Thank you Jose!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Rags used with oil-based stains are highly flammable and can spontaneously combust in the right conditions. To reduce the fire risk, throw them in a metal container after use and add rocks on top to secure them. Add an inch of water and seal the container. Take the rags in the container to a hazardous waste factory as soon as possible.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.

There are deck restoration products and oil-based wood stains that can help bring back some of the color and shine to your faded Trex decking. However, if your boards are suffering from serious fading due to UV rays or chemical cleaning products, don’t expect miracles. Also, these products are only suitable for use on the older Trex boards, not the capped, second-generation Trex products.

To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.
