"The owner of this company, Hunter Sinclair, came to evaluate the problem we were having with our 23 year old gas fireplace. He was very neat by covering the area around the fireplace, worked efficiently to determine the problem and after careful work determined that a part needed to be replaced. Mr. Sinclair was as thorough as he could be considering it was an old gas fireplace! He let me know a week later that he was contacting all the distributors who may know the part number and after thoroughly working on trying to find the part, eventually found that the company, after contacting the company we purchased the fireplace from and made our fireplace had gone out of business 12 years earlier and no part could be found. Mr. Sinclair contacted me throughout his search keeping me apprised of his progress along the way. On the negative side he's apt to be confrontational, and very quick to blame everyone else – homeowner and other contractors alike – for mistakes of his own making. And there's the matter of cost. The last of several jobs done at this location was supposed to be on the basis of time and materials, in which case I would have expected to see a breakdown of hours and materials cost. Not so, according the bill he just presented, and which I duly paid. Where's the analysis of cost, I asked? There isn't one, that's my price, period, and if you don't pay it, see you in small claims court (how reassuring is that?). Deducting for materials (my guesstimate), he billed me at something in the region of $125 per hour. A bit steep, if you check the going rate in NC. My advice – get a firm price."
