"Kirkwood Plumbing was very responsive, sending a highly qualified technician within 24-hours. He did an incredible job replacing old cast stacks and vents to our 2nd floor bath. The further comment that I would make is they are not cheap. I'm still trying to reconcile their cost for a 7-8 hour job, but the results couldn't be better."

"Absolute best. I had three bids. One was way over the top. The other bid was slightly lower than the one from Maplewood Plumbing, but they stopped responding to my questions after I asked them two times. I understand that if it was just a $200 job, then it would not be worth the time, but $2,500 was no chump change. Couldn't I ask just a couple more questions to make sure I knew what I was getting into? Maplewood plumbing was different, from start to finish. They even came out a second time to take a closer look to reassure me on what needed to be moved or removed first in order to start their work. I doubt many companies would want to do that. The plumbers working on the job were happy to answer questions as well. There was a small drip in the water supply line/shutoff valve area of the toilet after they were done with the job, They fixed it after a call. Some companies just leave these loose ends unfixed, but they didn't. The office staff was also responsive and professional. All in all, they were such a pleasure to work with. Will definitely hire them for future plumbing needs."

"The people on the phone and the workers that worked at my house were fantastic. Damien and Ernest were the installer's top rate people. Jack, their license plumber was polite and funny. The only person we didn't care for was Keith He only stopped by to look at what was going on. He was a little rude to my wife and Made her feel Like she was second class in her own home. We Were very shocked by that. We would definitely recommend Jacuzzi to our friends."

"Everything went very well! From the beginning, Darryll seemed to understand what we were looking for. He was very good at helping us decide where we could save a little money, and what would be worth spending a little extra on. Angie was fantastic about keeping us up to date on everything! She coordinated dates and times with us, let us know about any delays, answered any of my texts or phone calls immediately, and was always very helpful and a pleasure to talk to! Ryan was the main guy doing the work on our bathroom. What a talented guy! I was unsure about how to design the exact tile pattern in our shower and around the tub, and he took the time to tell me what he thought would look nice, and it came out beautiful! I also have to thank him for helping us in a water leak situation. We had a plumber out and finally tracked down the location of a busted water pipe leaking under the slab portion of our home, but they gave us a bid but did not stop the leak at that time. Water had been leaking into our basement for several months because of it. When Ryan overheard me saying that I have to get my husband or a plumber back out the next day to cap that pipe , he offered to take care of it for me right then! He said no need to wait if we really needed the line capped, and he went out to his truck, and took care of it immediately! The next day my basement was dry. It was a really nice thing to do! We were pleased with everything from the beginning and their price was very reasonable! We will definately hire them again."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, copper pipes can freeze, crack, and burst in cold weather. In fact, of all piping types used for plumbing, copper pipes burst most easily when frozen. This is because copper conducts energy and loses heat more quickly than other types of plumbing. Copper also won't expand when the water inside freezes. Instead, it bursts or splits to accommodate expanding frozen water.

If nothing is coming out of your faucet, you could have frozen pipes, a clogged faucet, or your water supply could be shut off. First, check your shut-off valves. If it's a hot sunny day, you can rule out frozen pipes and look closer at your aerator for signs of mineral deposits. Removing the aerator and cleaning it out can often return water flow. If temperatures are below freezing, you may have frozen pipes. Knowing what to do when pipes freeze is essential for thawing your pipes and preventing them from bursting.

Copper pipes are the safest type of pipe for carrying drinking water because they won't leach chemicals into your drinking water. However, for the best water quality, you should use copper pipes with lead-free joint material. The next best options for carrying drinking water are CPVC and PEX pipes.

If you use copper pipes for drinking water, you should check your water’s pH level. If it has a pH value lower than seven, you'll need to balance your water acidity with a purifier to avoid corrosion that could affect your drinking water quality.

The water in your toilet tank refills after each flush. So if you see dirty water in the bowl, you should check the tank to see if it’s coming from there. A dirty toilet tank can be the result of sediment in the water itself—-after all, the water will sit in the tank between flushes and can cause the interior to change into a dingy color. Faulty toilet components, like an old flapper, corroded tank lever or chain, or damaged seals, can also lead to dirty water as the materials break down inside the tank. You can clean the toilet tank or change out the old parts to give it a fresh start.

Yes, polybutylene pipes absolutely need to be replaced. These pipes do not last long and pose major threats of leaks and bursts because they cannot withstand the elements found in municipal water, such as chlorine and fluoride. If your home still has any polybutylene pipes, hire a plumber right away to replace them with a better, more durable type of pipe.
