"We purchased the Angie's List deal because we wanted to try to get some stains out of the carpet. They were there before we moved in and we just didn't know if there was something else we could do. Carpet Care showed up on time, did a very detailed job, and even gave us an honest answer about the stains. He was very upfront that they were in the pad and that we could clean and clean but they would come back. I really appreciate the honesty. My favorite thing is the fact that the carpets were barely damp when he left! I would highly recommend these guys for any carpet cleaning needs.

"Where have we come to in 2022? What should be the norm is now entirely unexpected. It was thus a very pleasant surprise to have an honest, individual to deal with. Having moved into a new house which had not been appropriately taken care of by the previous owner, we thought we needed to have our fireplaces and chimneys cleaned prior to installation of fireplace doors. Jeff arrived on time, was extremely polite and quickly assessed our planned usage of the fireplaces. He then advised us that all we needed were the fireplace doors thus saving us from unnecessarily spending money on the cleaning. Thank you Jeff. We appreciate your honest assessment and advice. You are the only person we would call, if our fireplaces or chimneys should need any attention in the future."

"R&B Power Washing were easy to work with, and they were concerned about making sure all areas I wanted cleaned were completed. The results on soffits (under the eaves), gables, and porch ceiling were dramatic. The only issue observed was on the top 1/3 of the vinyl siding where debris like dirty watrer dripped out of weep holes, which we concluded were the remnants of dirt dobbers nests washing out when the wash wand spray water up towards the weep holes. This was my experience as well when I washed the siding in the past. My experience has been that it makes a temporary stain that diminishes after a week or two as it dries, and the dried debrie (fine dust) dissipates with wind and rain against the siding. The only solution I can think of is for homeowner or contractor covering the job might be able to purchase an L or curves channel attachment for extension wand so that rinse water may be applied level against the siding as opposed to angled application-but I'm not sure such attachments are available. Everything considered, I was happy with the results. It took 15 years age off my house; I only wish my neighbors in front of my neighborhood would hire these guys so that neighbor's property looked better. Thanks again."

Small jobs welcome

"The two workers from Redbird Cleaning & More LLC, who did a deep cleaning of my home were prompt, communicative, pleasant to work with and paid great attention to detail. Both were very hard workers. I will use their services again and will recommend them to family and friends."

Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, if you’re strapped for supplies, boiling hot water can be a great alternative for getting rid of soap scum. However, as this method calls for a bit of soaking, it’s best used when cleaning your bathroom sink or bath basin (or on small objects you can submerge). All you have to do is plug your sink or bathtub drain and pour in enough boiling water to cover the soap scum. Allow it to soak for five minutes, drain, and follow up with an additional hot water rinse to remove any lingering residue.

To hire a professional house cleaner, start by searching for local services online and asking friends or colleagues for recommendations. Review company websites, social media accounts, and online customer reviews to understand their business and reputation. Contact prospective cleaners to ask about their services and charges. It's also a good idea to meet with them in your home so they can see the scope of the job, allowing you to discuss expectations and negotiate a price. Always do thorough research before choosing a cleaning service to ensure it’s the right fit for you.

It's not a great idea to clean gas stove grates in the dishwasher. Most iron grates, even with a protective coating, can corrode when exposed to the heavy washing process. Instead, soak your stove grates in gentle soapy water for up to 30 minutes, and remove any grease and grime by hand to be safe.

If you're already planning to hire an electrician and you know that you'll get billed the minimum call-out charge, you might as well make the most of it by having the contractor do another small job like replacing a light switch or electrical outlet. Even if you're paying for a new coaxial outlet, which costs several hours in labor, you may be able to save a little or maximize value by getting them to do other related jobs. For example, if you're having a coaxial cable moved, it's worth checking if you also need another electrical outlet in the new location or considering where else you would benefit from a new outlet . The cost to install an electrical outlet is around $200.

When hiring a housekeeper, prioritize candidates with proven experience and solid references. Look for background checks and ask for proof of insurance or bonding to protect your home. Discuss their cleaning process, the supplies they use, and whether they have any specialized training for surfaces like marble or hardwood. These steps help ensure your housekeeper is both skilled and trustworthy.
