"Metro lawn sprinkler installed our system 20 years ago. Each year we sign up for the yearly activation and winterization program. The technicians are always prompt, professional and friendly. If we need additional services, they are fair with pricing and work efficiently."

"This company is very easy to work with. A few years ago we had them put in walkway lighting. They offered to come in and set it up so that we could see how it would look and then they would come back and install more or differently depending on how we felt. I actually thought I wanted more lights but they told me I didn't need it. I appreciate they tried to keep the costs down. We've called them back recently to change the motion light on the back of our house. We already had a fixture there so they just needed to put in something different (~$250). Everything I was seeing at Home Depot got poor reviews and I was sick of changing lightbulbs. Daniel responded to my emails in a timely manner and always answered the phone when I called. But also, we were a few minutes late getting to the house and he was in the front fixing the lights (repositioning b/c we'd had landscaping done) they had installed a few years ago!! I was impressed with this."

Customers say: Super punctual

"We hired Sam's Retaining Walls for a second backyard hardscaping project. Last year Sam and his team put up a 160 ft retaining wall along the back of our property, which was a monumental task. We reviewed that previously on Angie's list and gave Sam and team an "A" rating. This year we had Sam design (with us) a new patio with fire pit and stone wall seating. In addition a stone paver path was installed as was underground drainage and under deck stabilization including a sitting wall and rock. Finally Sam installed several flower beds and lined them again with pavers. Sam and his team did a great job again. Please note that he is meticulous and committed to doing a perfect job, from excavating through the limestone a few inches under our yard, to installing walls or pavers, to backfilling. Thus if you are expecting a quick job you will be disappointed. Sam's attention to detail meant our job took about about 5 weeks to complete. But we would far rather have a time consuming job done right than a quick job requiring repairs a year later. Also once Sam gets into a project he sees things that would make the project even better. I would recommend listening to his ideas as in our case they clearly made the final product better. Our yard now is the best that we could have dreamed it would be! Please see the attached photo for an idea of the scope of the project."

"Removed brick veneer from one section of our house and installed in another area. They installed stone top caps on a brick half wall across the entire front of our house and white washed brick. They also repaired our brick chimney and brick HVAC exhaust stack."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning on a propane heater, make sure that your heater is suitable for indoor use. When you run the heater, it should always be in a well-ventilated area with proper air circulation. Installing carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home is also essential. If you have any questions about using a heater indoors, contact a local heating and oil company for more information.

Asbestos has many beneficial properties, including fire resistance, strength, and chemical resistance. It is also an excellent insulator, which is why it was used in pipe insulation and other building materials for decades. For all its benefits, asbestos is dangerous for human health, which is why it was eventually banned from use in certain products.

Yes, it’s worth capping a chimney. Here are several reasons to install a chimney cap:

  • Keep out rain, snow, wildlife, and other debris

  • Help prevent chimney fires

  • Reduce your chimney’s exposure to moisture

  • Maintain your chimney flue liner

  • Help reduce energy bills by helping regulate your home’s temperature

In addition to flashing, a roof cricket can help divert water around your chimney so that it drains properly off your roof. It’s shaped like a double triangle and is installed behind the chimney so that falling water spills evenly down each side. This helps prevent water from accumulating behind your chimney, which can increase water damage and the risk of leaks.

The International Building Code (IBC) requires cricket installation if a chimney built after 2012 measures over 30 inches in width. Chimneys constructed before that date are typically grandfathered in and aren’t required to have crickets installed.

One of the best ways to know your chimney is good to go on any given night is to simply look up into your flue with a flashlight. If you see a thick buildup of creosote—a shiny, dark substance that looks like tar—it’s best to have your fireplace professionally cleaned before you go ahead with the burn. Additionally, having your fireplace professionally inspected once per year can also help increase your peace of mind and keep your family and your home safe.
