"They used to be good but now do a sloppy job and don't stand behind their work. I went round and round with them regarding a damaged sprinkler system due to them not properly blowing out the lines and winterizing the system. First, I specifically asked to be called instead I was emailed back and forth. I was told there was a note of A crack at the intake upon arrival which they didn't inform me of. I have both a lake pump and city water, I asked which intake and didn't get a response, I asked to see the notes but they said there was not much in terms of notes. The whole pressure vacuum assembly and the in take by the lake was cracked. Further the 25+ foot PVC pipe for the lake pump was cracked throughout the entire length. It could not have been removed from the lake if it was that cracked prior to the system being blown out. They blamed me for too late of a blow out but they scheduled me late. I asked if it was ok to wait that long and they said it was then denied it later."

"They were very good at selling the solution, but there was a big gap on the execution of the project, and took multiple iterations to get everything right, I even had to get into the solutioning with the team myself. It is too bad because the technology seems to work fairly well, and that’s why they are getting 3 stars, but I would not use them again."

Additional DBA - Quality Concrete Service. Additional contact name - Richard Raiche.

"Dick Raiche is now operating under Raiche Engineering, 234 Barry Avenue South, Wayzata, MN, and he was hired to fix a water intrusion in my basement. He "guaranteed" his work. When backfilling and replacing the landscaping, he left it sloping toward the foundation, including depressions where water could pool close to the foundation. I continued to get water in that area, and he refused to fix the landscaping he messed up. During my 10+ attempts to contact him to remedy the problem and adhere to his written "guarantee," he refused to accept responsibility, made personal attacks, slurred his words, and swore."

"I appreciated the accurate estimate for the work as well as the advice on preventing it from happening again. The crew arrived on time and raised the walkway section so it’s level now. They also caulked between the driveway and garage slabs."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

While "dry" mode on your AC can help reduce humidity levels to some extent, it may not be as effective as a dedicated dehumidifier, especially in areas with extremely high humidity or larger spaces. Dehumidifiers are specifically designed to remove moisture from the air more efficiently, making them a better choice for tackling persistent humidity issues.

Yes, usually you will need some kind of vapor barrier on the exterior walls when the framing is attached to concrete and masonry surfaces.

Yes, crawl spaces can attract bugs, especially since moisture tends to build up in the space, and moisture attracts pests. A good way to prevent pest infestation in your crawl space is to install a vapor barrier—called crawl space encapsulation—on the interior to seal the space, along with a French drain or some other kind of foundation drainage system outside to keep runoff out of your crawl space. You can also seal foundation cracks and repair damages to cut off access to pests.

It depends on what caused your basement flooding, the extent of the problem, and the risk of the flood continuing. If your flood is coming from a septic system or sewer line, breathing in the sewer gasses can be dangerous, so you should vacate. If the flood occurs from an ongoing natural disaster, relocating to a safe area might be wise. If you just have a plumbing leak or rainwater coming in, you can likely stay in the house if you don’t have electrical lines down there, but make sure you call in professionals to fix the issue immediately.

Preventing future basement flooding often involves installing sump pumps, improving drainage, sealing foundation cracks, and maintaining gutters. Costs vary, but preventive measures can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the solutions chosen. Investing in prevention can save you money on future flooded basement cleanup costs and repairs.
