It turns out that only a vapor barrier capsulation was installed, the area was never waterproofed and flooded within one year. Mark Hall (Project Manager) was contacted and he denied what our original concerns were and said that he provided what we asked for. Also, a technician came to inspect the same area, proposed different repairs to address the (original) problem and Mark Hall gave an estimate higher than the first one. When asked about the price, Mark Hall said that it was the same as the first repair which was a (lesser) project so it appeared that we were overcharged the first time and for the incorrect repair. Mark Hall showed little respect for our concerns about a problem that was diagnosed incorrectly. DO NOT USE MR. BASEMENT.

I had multiple discussions with Mark Hall, the project manager.  He outlined the schedule and all of the work that would be done.  He assured me that he would not have to remove a closet door, that we would get 36" windows, and that he would assist in obtaining all necessary permits.  He explained in great detail where the windows would be going, and provided professional responses to all my questions.  He assured me that no window opening would be cut unless the window installation would be completed on that day.  He provided a 4 day timeline to complete the project.
After three days, they boarded up a huge hole in the basement and left for the weekend.  Temperatures on this weekend were projected to be in the teens.  We were assured that no hole would be cut unless the window was going to be installed on that day, LIE.
We had been told by Mark that there would be no requirement to remove the Deck Steps.  They were removed, without any warning.  LIE
Instead of working to install the window, they continued working on the existing window install.  This particular window installation went very badly when they decided to cut into the wood part of the foundation to install the window, added that they made a mistake and had to build a header.  What?  Waiting on structural engineer from contractor to determine level of damage to the structural integrity of the home.  This level of negligence is unacceptable.
We were told that 36" windows would be installed, 30" windows were installed.
I had asked about code requirements, and the answers could not be provided to me.  I spent some time looking into these codes that are readily available online.  I personally found a basic code violation in a matter of minutes.  After clearly documenting the inadequacies of the work performed, I had to discontinue working with Mr. Hall.  He had no acceptable answers for the shoddy workmanship that was clearly on display in our home.
We immediately checked online for permits, all required permits were NOT pulled, and the only one that was pulled was not approved until days after they started working.
Not only am i fighting to get my money returned for the work done, but I have been put out for over 4,000 dollarss in additional damages due to their lack of professionalism, honesty, workmanship and proper communication.

Primarily, I liked their manager of the project, who is no longer with the firm. He seemed to pull together a sensible team that did the work. One did the floor and the other did the dry wall. he had sensible suggestions about how to get it done.

They did an excellent job! Since the old field representative is no longer there I would like to meet the new field representative before I commit myself. Work like this is subcontracted to a dry wall team, a floor team, and the guy in charge, Sean Gannon, did a very good job in setting it off.

Everyone we dealt with was very professional. Our project manager was very responsive to our needs. The men that did the work were courteous, very punctual, and did an excellent job. Our basement is much improved by the work that was performed. I would highly recommend Mr. Basement for this type of work.

They were good. They did quality work, were responsive, professional and I am satisfied with their work definitely. They were very courteous, went above and beyond just small detailed work and there wasn't any initial contract. They were friendly and professional.

Redirected the sump pump and suggested I put in 2 new windows. I have a very large basement. You couldn't see where the water was seeping in. They did give a lifetime warranty. Most of the workers were really nice to me. When it failed I had problems getting a call back. I had 8 or 9 companies come estimate the job, I went with this company because remediation. They had to remediate for mold but after researching it, they didn't do EPA standard mold remediation. They also took down all of the drywall in my basement, so they could do the waterproofing sheet on the wall, I then had to hire a separate contractor in order to fix the drywall. The problem is solved and I will call them to follow up on the warranty, if needed. Jason was the on site supervisor and Shawn Gannon was the project manager, they saving grace of this company, I would give them each As.

Angelo was fantastic. The appointment was at 5:00pm. I was late - Angelo was not. He was understanding, patient and pleasant. He got down on the ground and crawled around in the space. At the end of the day, he didn't try to sell us anything, he was honest and VERY knowledgeable. He showed us some areas to keep an eye on, and some ideas on how to fix some small issues ourselves. I will call them again if I never need there services. Very professional, and really knows his trade.

Chip Gentile is a dear man......we talked, I decided to go with them after having some nightmare experiences with other salesmen, and it all went according to schedule, the work was done neatly, no problems, and, as far as I know none since....the floor that was warped as a result of moisture seems to be returning to it's and quot;nativeand quot; state. This company gets the highest grade from me.

This company offers an unique solution to water and mildew problems. We had insulation installed under our room above a dirt floor and each time the insulation fell down and mold grew on the ceiling, or under the floor of our bedroom. Mr. Basement provided a liner to prevent moisture rising from the ground, and installed a sump pump to remove water from under the house. We have had the work done 2 1/2 years ago, and have been very pleased with the work. Last summer we noticed the painting on one of the covers was peeling, and they came out and repainted the cover without a charge. The only complaint is the door they used to go under the room is harde to line up with the bolts, and they did not provide a solid white color to match the house. We have not painted it, but hope to in the future so it won't stand out. The work was excellent, and they are great to work with. We used Ward Purvis for our evaluation and have been very happy. We are located in Springfield, VA and they traveled from Maryland. We recommend this service to any one with a mold issue in an underground crawl space with dirt floors.

Overall project leader Shawn prepared a comprehensive project plan and cost estimate. His thorough and thoughtful work was a key reason that we chose Mr. Basement over other well-qualified Angie's List contractors. Shawn also provided creative planning suggestions and provided overall supervision throughout the 3 weeks of work.
Dave was the on-site day-to-day master carpenter/multiple craft specialist whose skill at planning, providing alternate solution ideas and thinking through the sequence of work to be done on each of the 3 areas was highly effective. Also, Dave's carpentry expertise and other skills led to a very high quality results. All craft specialists provided by Mr. Basement were top notch pros (electrician, plumber, HVAC duct workers, drywall installers and painters). And all materials, including multiple base and wall cabinets, ceramic tile and lighting fixtures were high quality and helped the team create excellent finished products. As a result , 3 previously completely unfinished areas are now highly functional and attractive and quot;real roomsand quot;.
All Mr. Basement Team members were very conscious of protecting adjacent areas and realized that we needed to live in and use the space in the midst of the remodeling work.
We would definitely use this team for other renovation projects at our homeb

Overall the work went well, but with some unexpected hiccups. There was a difference between what the salesman who originally came to the house sold me and what the job foreman said that I needed. Basically, the salesman sold me products that were unneeded and would have been improper applications of the products themselves. The foreman did a change order and the price dropped significantly. On the other hand, since the job was being done mid-winter, some services that I did want to have and were needed were not done (specifically the epoxy cannot be applied under 40 degrees since it would not cure in the cold). So I will need to have someone else come back in the springtime.

The work that was done was done quite well, with the team staying extra hours to ensure the work was done properly. Since they ran into trouble once they started excavating my basement floor, the excavation took much longer than planned, so from a labor perspective they likely lost money on my job, but the team worked diligently to ensure the job was completed properly. They were completely respectful of my scheduling commitments, and explained everything as it occurred. They also went above and beyond to ensure I was happy after the initial communications difficulties about the epoxy.

Overall, the team did good work and I would recommend them to others.

Overall, I would give them a B+. It is critically important to manage the dust during the demolition. It got over everything and it will take me weeks to clean it up.

Again, my biggest concern was the proce for the package, and the lack of a total solution (no painting, no rug re-installation).

I found them on Angie's List. I was very pleased with them. They acted very quickly. We were having a water issue and everybody in the area was having one. They worked us in and came out right away.

Just completed a kitchen remodeling and wanted to insulate the crawl space under the kitchen. Mr. Basement sealed off the vented crawl space and encapsulated the ground up to the rim joints with their "white space" material. Plus, they sprayed foam insulation at the rim joints. Not only did I get in insulated crawl space, I now have additional temperature controlled storage space. They did a very professional job with quality materials.

Overall, they did a good job. I haven't had any problems with water since their service. However, I was told that they didn't use subcontractors, and the worker who performed the service seemed to be just that. Every time I asked him a question, he had to contact the home office. The clean was good, but I feel they could have done a neater job. For example, some of the columns that were installed aren't completely straight.
