"Water proofing very good results. BUT Caution regarding floor repair from ANY contractor. Make sure you discuss what the floor repair will look like. Mine is not level, and Much rougher Than original floor. Another contractor said it was better than He typically sees. This was done several years ago. Sorry about the late review."

"They completed it in 2 days and I havent had an issue since the basement was waterproofed. However, they did forget to plan the initial inspection prior to the work as part of the permit. The city I live in ended up reaching out near the end of the permit date and I didnt know about it until then. I reached out to the project manager for my project at Acculevel about it and they did handle that issue promptly."

"I hired Maltese to waterproof my basement in a house which was built in 1896 and required serious mold remediation and complete waterproofing. Tom has excellent customer service skills, responded promptly to all communications, provided very detailed invoices and worked very hard to assure I was completly satisfied with the outcome. Although the work needed was far more extensive once they scaled the walls, and assessed the situation, Tom worked to assure that additional costs were more than fair and the crew performed a number of additional services at no charge. The Maltese crew arrived promptly each day and provided backbreaking work to assure that the job was complete. They did an excellent job. My basement is completly dry! Maltese is the best contractor I have had the pleasure to work with and would recommend them highly to anyone who requires basement waterproofing."

"After dealing with a leak in one corner of our basement for over 20 years we finally decided to do something about it and called Gardner Construction to come take a look. Jake was great and suggested a couple solutions to our problem. We had them put drain tile in our basement and replace part of aggregate sidewalk to keep the water away from the foundation. They came and everyone was courteous and very professional. Jake and Cole were very patient with me and all of my questions. They did a terrific job, they were able to dig into the basement floor while keeping the dust to a minimum which kept the rest of the house clean, made sure to clean up after their work and the aggregate they put down was beautiful. Gardner Construction was awesome and I would hire them again and recommend them to anyone who needed their services."
Our team created a trench to the footings and filled it with a drain pipe and rock to channel the water to the sump pump.
This is the front of the steps, before the Gardner Construction team resurfaced the steps and replaced the sidewalk.
This homeowner wanted to replace the window and needed to repair the cracked and crumbling foundation.
The Gardner Construction team installed a new glass block window, providing additional security and a vent, and repaired the foundation.
After installing the sump pump and the drain tile system, our team repours the concrete.

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Waterproofing or encapsulating protects against moisture, preventing mold growth and structural damage. These services also enhance energy efficiency and improve air quality by keeping humidity levels in check.

You don’t always need to install a dehumidifier in your encapsulated crawl space, but it might be a good idea in certain instances. If you notice obvious signs of condensation, mold, or musty smells permeating from your crawl space, a dehumidifier can help. It’s ideal for homes in humid areas.

In a worst case scenario, structural damage like rust on metal beams, rotting wood, and swelling on doors and windows can signal moisture problems that would benefit from a dehumidifier.

Yes, basement insulation needs a vapor barrier due to its susceptibility to moisture seeping in from the outside of the house. You should install a moisture barrier before you install insulation or purchase insulation that comes prebuilt with a moisture barrier to avoid water damage in your insulation and costly mold and water remediation expenses.

In most climates, contractors recommend closing your crawl space vents in winter. Keeping them shut protects your crawl space from freezing temperatures, pests, and cool breezes that can lead to chilly floors in your home. However, it's often best to speak with a local crawl space team about your specific design and its relationship to the winter season.

A walkout basement is considered to be partially below grade because at least one wall is entirely exposed. In some cases and in specific municipalities, inspectors and appraisers will still count walkout basements as below grade, which means the space can’t serve as living space or be rented out. If you intend on using the area as living space or a separate apartment, you should check with your local building department to make sure it’s legal to do so.
