"Nick, Gunnar and Jack came over to do a partial basement interior drain and sump system install that I had been waiting on getting started for several years, and they made it look nice with minimal intervention to the area. It was such a sigh of relief to see it done well and at reasonable timing. The persistent small basement leak issue had been happening every spring and fall for 8 years. Now it's all set up with the best fix money can buy. So glad for their valued help! After the job was done, (and even somewhat during the job) Nick made sure to answer any questions and be very thorough in showing me every feature that was added, how to maintain the system, etc. This was an ideal experience, and I trust the same will be true for you if you have these guys come over! Only thing that could be better for me is if it were all free, but these guys have to go home and take care of their families too just like the rest of us. The reasonable pricing works for me :) -Sam"

"He did a great job and worked very hard! He saved our roof rafters in our attic and created a new opening in the hallway ceiling. He carefully caulked all of our exterior windows and doors, washed & painted the exterior, installed a new gutter and drain pipe, just to name a few items... Very flexible in working with me on decisions as to what repairs were needed inside and outside of the house. Very relational and friendly. Really cares about his work!"

"The doors one was great the second he had to come back to fix. As there was a gap in between the door and where it met the frame and he originally didn't add the door jam. The hot tub work was great but it cost $300 more than originally quoted. To be fair it was bc he installed a gfi outlet he didn't originally quote. Plus he was supposed to show up at 11a and didn't and then said he was on his way and would be there at 245p and I said I had an errand so in an hour would work so he went home and charged me $30 for trip cancellation."

"Overall great experience with Gardner in installing approximately 50 linear feet of drain tile in our basement. Basement has had periodic spring water seepage (specifically with the record snow storm and subsequent melt), was finally time to permanently fix. Submitted an online request for a quote on Sunday, was called mid-morning Monday to schedule and Bill was out on Wednesday. Took a look around the house for grading issues and reviewed basement. Bill was knowledgeable, informative, and very professional, clearly knew what he was talking about. Quote came back quickly, thought it was a little high, but trusted the quality would be there (and it was). I moved the washer/dryer/sink/toilet in preparation for the work. Installation began only a week later. Crew was prompt at 7:30am, went right to work on removing cement floor around the perimeter of the basement walls, installed sump basket and piping in no time. Project was wrapped up by 1:00pm. Quality of the install was amazing, they took a lot of care and pride in their work. The process is messy by nature, they did a good sweep when wrapping up, but still had a few boot prints, not a big deal. Would recommend giving Gardner a call if considering drain tile, I'm glad I did."

The regulations around whether drain pipe installers need to hold licenses or certifications differ based on where you live and the type of drain pipe installed. Municipalities have varying rules and regulations about who can and can’t perform plumbing work. However, we recommend hiring a certified plumber to install or modify your drain lines. Licensed plumbers will perform a high-quality, professional installation, which translates to a lower risk of clogs and leaks in the future. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to confirm the license status of your potential plumber before hiring them to install your drain pipe.
The cost to install a drain pipe is $600 on average, but the total can range between $150 and $2,000. Some cost factors that influence your project price include the type of drain, the area’s accessibility, the proximity of existing drain lines, and whether you’re installing a new drain or replacing an old one. Replacing the p-trap or s-trap under a single fixture will usually cost around $150, while replacing a main drain pipe can cost well over $2,000.
Plumbers will typically take one to two hours to install a new drain pipe, but that timeline can vary based on the area’s accessibility, the drain length, and the type of drain line. Replacing an easily accessible p-trap under a sink could take as little as a half an hour, while replacing a larger section of drain line behind the wall could take as long as three to four hours. When hiring a plumber for your specific installation, ask them to provide an estimated timeline to get a more accurate assessment.
You might need a permit to modify or repair any portion of your plumbing system, including drainage lines, depending on where you live. In some areas, simple replacements of existing drain lines don’t require a permit. We recommend asking your drain pipe installer or your local building department about permitting requirements. In many cases, only certified plumbers can pull plumbing permits, so you’ll usually need to leave the permit application to your professional. The fee for the permit will be passed to you on your project bill, though.
We highly recommend leaving the work of replacing drain pipes to a professional plumber. Drain pipes are a key part of your plumbing system, and making mistakes during the installation or even using the wrong size pipes for your specific fixture can lead to an elevated risk of leaks and clogs. Additionally, drain pipes prevent harmful sewer gas from entering your home, so hiring a professional plumber is essential to keeping the risk of leaks and clogs low and avoid reducing your indoor air quality.
