Jason did a fantastic job and very prompt. I would highly recommend Jason and we love our kitchen. We will hire him again.

  • Economy Garages
    5.0
Economy Garages did an outstanding job of building our garage. We're not associated with them in any way, other than having them build us a garage one time, and I would definitely have them do it again. Firstly, if you are pricing for a garage, or similar type building, in the northern Minnesota area they serve, then don't spend a lot of time looking for a more economical builder: there isn't one. Economy is the price leader, period. I tried to find a more inexpensive builder, and there aren't any, excluding some kind of unique 'sweat equity' arrangement on your own. There's plenty of other fine builders, but none that can compete with them on price. Also, if you are out in the wilderness like me (1 hour from Duluth on a narrow unimproved road), they charge no more for remoteness, as long as it is in the area they serve, which is practically all of northern Minnesota. They serve northern Wisconsin too, but we don't have experience with them there, but it's probably the same. We had to have our site prepared. The price they quoted was the slab, and then the garage built on top of it; separate crews from Economy. There are no hidden charges or cost overruns. The building permit (nominal), electrical (they did install my garage door opener very reasonably to ensure functionality), and any needed plumbing is up to the purchaser. I had water supply, drains and vents for a full bath, and septic connections incorporated into mine. The sales process was transparent and no pressure. The building crews, to a person, were always courteous and professional to myself and my wife, and our property. When we called them, they always answered, or called us right back. Questions? Not a bother to them at all, in terms of sales or construction; excellent customer service, and we called a lot. [Building contractors out there, don't get mad, but a lot of you lack interpersonal skills and everyday tasks like talking on the phone, texting, and emailing, sorry.] The quality of the materials and build was fine. We have a beautiful garage plus! If you want a total turnkey Cadillac building where you don't have to do anything, then look elsewhere and prepare to bleed. If you can handle the site prep and electrical/plumbing on your own, and want a perfectly functional family sedan of a garage at an unbeatable price, then call Economy.

The two sheds were built quickly using quality materials that have held up superbly over the years. His prices are very competitive. I would not hesitant in asking him to build the next shed I may need.

Rob and his crew were wonderful to work with. Communication was excellent always checking with me for approval especially on the details and finishing. Despite weather challenges they got it done without shortcuts.

  • Absalute Vinyl Window & Siding Co

Overall excellent. The first job was the roof, upstairs windows and gutter guards. They used Timberline 50 year shingles, they were prompt and professional, did a very good clean up. The window guys were terrific. Fast, answered all our questions and took the time to explain the care and use of our new replacement windows. Second job was to replace an old (35 years old) shed in the backyard. Excellent job. Got exactly what we wanted. A larger, barn shaped shed with concrete floor and heavy duty roll up door. Once again, they were prompt, polite and professional. Third job new front doors and downstairs replacement windows. They also had to jack up the front porch and get it back on it's cement footing. A combination of the flood and then the really dry conditions played havoc with it. It was done by the same great window guys. It will be 2 years since the roof was done and there have been no problems at all. There hasn't been a problem with any of the work they have done. Everything was not a smooth road, but the little blips are not even worth mentioning.

  • Lee House Raising & Moving Inc

Prompt, pleasant and professional describe Peter Lee and his workers. We hired them to level our pole barn so the garage door could close again. This involved replacing wood posts in the ground to new ones connected to the cement garage base. He wanted to come a few days before the designated date as previous work had wrapped up early (usually contractors arrive after the date they say they will come). He and his crew were kind and and professional, hard workers, left a clean work site, charged a very reasonable amount plus, and finished in less time than anticipated so he REFUNDED a portion of our payment!!! I have NEVER had this happen before! We were so very pleased with this company and highly recommend it others.

They were prompt for the estimate and accurate, they reconfigured the building when our site changed, and finished on time despite the weather.

All the men who worked on this project were professional and quality driven form Brian who did the estimate, Knutson who did the site prep and landscaping, Nylunds who poured the slab and Pat Moen who built the garage. It came out just as promised and what we expected. All the work was done in a timely manner and I cannot express about the quality enough. We are extremely pleased with the finished project.

  • Lakeview Masonry Inc
    5.0
It took me more than a year to find a good masonry company in Duluth. The first mason I called claimed that my foundation was collapsing and my house would fall down unless I hired him immediately. It took me a while to figure out what the house really needed. Then the mason for the company I thought I'd hired suddenly was no longer available. And the best-known masonry company in town wouldn't return my calls. So it was GREAT to work with Lakeview, once I finally found it. Ryan called back right away, came out exactly when he said he would and started work earlier than he said he could. Once he and his team started, they worked like gangbusters, and they left the place as neat as a pin. Ryan knows a ton about houses, not just masonry, and he always had creative solutions to the many problems an older house presents. He's a good listener and has a great command of detail. He was happy to install the things I asked for, anticipated problems that I hadn't thought about and added extra features that he thought I needed, such as a drainage pipe. He seems to really care about doing the job right. So now I have an extremely sturdy garage that will outlast me. I would hire Lakeview again in a heartbeat, but I'm pretty sure I won't have to.
