"Great work! Alessio was able to come the next day. He was on time, explained everything, kept a neat work area, and did a great job refinishing our shower stall pan. He fixed a crack/chip in one corner, and seamlessly resurfaced the entire pan. Would definitely recommend this company."

"DMV were the contractors for a series of renovation projects in my home -- renovate a powder room, complete renovation of the kitchen, renovate a closet space, install a skylight, repaint several rooms and the staircase, and refinish the floors upstairs. Javier and the crew were outstanding: very communicative throughout the project, attentive to my concerns and the integrity of the house, and very accommodating with my neighbors. Javier offered many helpful suggestions for tiling, fixtures, and colors. I'm thrilled with the results -- the quality and precision of the work is excellent, and the skylight has transformed my home and my life. Perhaps the most amazing aspect of the project is that I could not be on site as I was posted overseas during the work. I had to trust Javier and his team completely to carry out the work without my hands-on presence. My trust was well-placed. They took care of my home and its contents, and the project was finished in budget and early. Javier was also super-responsive and helpful once I was able to return home. I can't recommend DMV highly enough! S. Boswell"

"VKB far exceeded out expectations for our new kitchen design and installation; as well as, the resurfacing and stain/varnish to my existing floors and stairs. My wife and I are very pleased with the final outcome. Money was well spent. Base on our experience, I would not hesitate to recommend their services again. Jack and Suzanne McClinton."

"

I must express my frustration, since I was not able to climb into the attic at the time to check to see if the vent was installed properly for the upstairs bathroom.  It was not, and didn't even go through the roof.  We now have to get it fixed.  I would be cautious about using this company, as the vent is a critical part of the plumbing process for renovations.  I surely don't want mold in my house.

While I was out for an operation and recovery, the bathroom upstairs was changed from a bathtub to a shower.  The tiles came from Home Depot and were nice.  They fit the décor in the bathroom.

The basement tiles came from the Tile Center, in Rockville, MD.  Other products came from Ferguson and from Reico and Home Depot, and from a granite store.

1. The process for designing the new bathroom in the basement was greatly helped by the 3-D software program that the company uses. It did not take much effort for me to see what I wanted displayed on the computer. This was a big selling point to selecting the company.

2. The work was well done. Frederico was very proactive about helping to pick out tiles and the other fixtures for the bathrooms. Even with an impending hospitalization and a little fall in one of the stores on my part, the process worked well.

3. The company purchased a lot of additional supplies that were not necessary and had to be returned to the respective stores.  The return process was at their convenience, not my financial convenience. Getting the items returned was painful as I had to ask several times to have it returned.

4. The bathroom renovation, the installation of a new bathroom and modifying the laundry room ended up being a lot more expensive than I thought it would be at the beginning. It also took longer than I thought as well.

5. In the upstairs bathroom, the bathtub was removed and a shower put in. The toilet had to be removed to put in the shower doors. The toilet was put back in such a way that I could not remove the trashcan that I put there before the toilet was removed. I ended up having a handyman replace the toilet and the trashcan can be moved in and out with ease at this time. I don't think that the person who reinstalled the toilet gave much thought to long term practicality or concern on the part of homeowners.

I asked that Home Breakthrough finish the upstairs bathroom, so I could get the wood floors refinished.  They did accommodate us, as at that point, I was recovering from the surgery and could follow up on the projects.

I am generally happy with the end products.  I just wish that there were a better mechanism for controlling supply costs and receiving the receipts for the supplies.

As an afterthought, I should have asked for jets in the bathroom, and one suggestion that the contractor had after the fact was a heated floor.  It would have been nice if this were mentioned in advance.  Too late now.

"A R Crowell Plumbing, LLC was an excellent experience from start to finish. The bathtub did not need to be replaced, however I was provided with an estimate that I will consider in the future, the home is 25 years old and need renovation. The cost of the repair needed was decently priced and the work was outstanding."

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can absolutely remove rust from a bathtub drain, and doing so can improve the appearance of your tub. Combine three parts baking soda with one part vinegar and mix into a paste. Apply the paste over the drain and let it sit for about an hour before rinsing with cold water. Repeat the process if some rust stains remain. If the stains return, consider installing a water softener, as ongoing issues with bathtub drain rust usually indicate hard water.

You can use other ways to seal the space where your tub and the bathroom tile meet. Using sealant tape, epoxy sealer, and spray foam can be just as effective as caulking your bathtub. When using alternatives to caulk, the one that is best for you depends on your preferences.

Sealant tape takes less time and effort to use, which is why some homeowners prefer it. Meanwhile, epoxy sealer creates a smooth and glossy finish that can complement your bathroom. Lastly, spray foam is waterproof and can act as insulation for your tub.

While certain kits make DIY possible, professionals ensure durability and quality of finish, which is vital for high-moisture areas like baths.

The cost to refinish a bathtub is $490 for most homeowners. However, this cost can range from $200 to $1,000 or more, depending on your tub's material and condition.

For example, enamel and cast-iron bathtubs are pretty straightforward to refinish, costing between $350 and $600. However, if you have an antique claw-foot tub, you can expect to pay between $500 and $1,200 for refinishing costs due to the care and complexity needed.

Two alternatives to reglazing are installing a bathtub inlay or a bathtub liner. An inlay is a low-priced mat that adheres to the bottom of a bathtub or shower. It’s useful for sealing minor leaks and concealing damage on the bottom of a tub. On the other hand, a bathtub liner is essentially a protective casing that goes over the entire tub. They are usually custom-fit and cost more than reglazing yet don’t last as long.
