Allen is an excellent carpenter; we had the banister & railing updated; along with the stair threads. We also had the risers reinforced. Hands down, very happy with Allen & his services. My neighbors were so impressed; they also hired him.

ARM Home Improvement completed our bathroom slab floor remodel November 2024. Allen is very personable and gave a comprehensive estimate for our project. Our adult kids were in the house, but during the project we received daily photos of the work accomplished that day with dialogue to explain. He was always available and welcomed our questions or concerns. Allen was very thorough in the workmanship toward our project. ARM has our highest recommendation for a job well done. Five Stars. Background: we hired ARMS Home Improvement to completely remodel two bathrooms: Master and Hall (remove tub and create walk-in shower). Required plumbing, electrical, paint, framework, waterproofing, flooring, and problem-solving for issues that arose in both. Allen worked diligently and patiently with us to provide the bathrooms we designed and envisioned. Provided us with vendors. Worked with us on scheduling. Left the workspaces clean and tidy EVERY day. Gave us options on many decisions for component placement and honored our choices and explained why it would or wouldn't work. Allen respected our community surroundings (parking, trash, etc.) and integrated the work seamlessly into our daily lives. We felt the price paid for the scope of work delivered was of great value. We recommend ARMS Home Improvement very highly for virtually any home improvement project you want to do.

Long story short, Allen was a pleasure to work with and I am so glad I found him to install an awning over my side exit. Short story long, I knew I was going to hire Allen over the other contractors I had talked to just from the estimate. Allen came by and took measurements, started writing up general designs while I was there, and talked through the details of the project with me. I have worked on several DIY projects with my dad and this was the same process we would take if we were doing it. Estimate aside, the work was well done and I am really happy with the result. Allen did the work himself with one other person and they were able to finish within their timeframe, which they had left a few days space for rain. This isn't like where you talk with a salesperson and then it's a completely different crew doing the work. Overall, highly recommend Allen and Arms Home Improvement. Because this is quality work, it is a bit expensive, but it was no more pricey than other estimates.

Excellent work! This company is for customers who prioritize hiring a licensed, reliable, and experienced contractor who is a true craftsman. Hired initially for a small shutters task and we were so impressed with Mr. Allen Metcalf’s knowledge and work that we had had ARM’s Home Improvement back for more projects: new windows (not replacements), new outer doors (including extended slider), crown molding, custom work on interior french doors, moving an outdoor spigot, and some small handy-person tasks. They work quietly, cleanly, and independently. They explain their work thoroughly and I was 100% comfortable having them in my home. Highly recommend.

Allen was extremely thorough in his assessment of the work, documentation in the quote, and quality of his work. As always with home contracting, more things that were unseen before the tear down showed up. He pointed them out and fixed them. I thought I just had rotten wood at the bottom of my door frame. Allen fixed that and a slew of other problems that made the door more secure and a better weather boundary. All of which I wouldn't have known doing the job myself. Definitely would use again!

Allen Metcalf is an artist. He doesn’t just build something, he creates. This is the second project he has done for us and replaced a small deck outside our sunroom that as rotting. Allen pointed out that more than one piece of structural wood needed replacing. He also pointed out where the deck and addition weren’t properly anchored to the house. He submitted a 14 page estimate detailing everything he would be using and doing. If you want the best and don’t mind paying a few dollars more for his precise, professional, and well crafted work, you need to contact Allen.

Alan is a true artist we live in a split level the stairs and railing are very important. He came up with a beautiful design with Ryan helping they created a gorgeous entry way.

Things went great. The team was professional and efficient. They explained things and were friendly. They were able to adapt to issues found after tear down and accommodate changes as needed. Very thorough knowledgeable and skilled.

Allen, owner of ARM, was professional, personable, and extremely competent. He planned the project so that I received the most exacting proposal and estimate for any project I have had done. He was required to cut through a support beam and ensured the structural integrity of the roof would not be impacted before starting the install. He took two days to complete the installation of the stairway that was 11 foot high. He included some extra work laying down a plywood platform to walk and stand on. Both days exceeded 8 hours — he worked until the planned work was finished. After completing the installation, he spent time cleaning up the garage ensuring no trash or dirt was left behind. I would hire ARM Construction in a minute for any small or large future construction related projects. I can’t say enough good about Allen and his work.

Highly recommend Arms Home Improvement. Had a small kitchen fire - several cabinets were burned, drywall was damaged, and soot went everywhere. Mr. Metcalf was the only contractor willing to try and repair the cabinets versus buying all new kitchen cabinets. Not only were the damaged cabinets repaired, they look better than before. The attention to detail by Mr. Metcalf and Jeff was outstanding. In the process of repairing the kitchen they also encountered unforeseen electrical issues. Everything was fixed with care and the kitchen looks amazing. Mr. Metcalf and Jeff are excellent contractors, with an equally excellent work ethic. I would not hesitate to recommend this company. ARMS did a fantastic job from start to finish. They gave by far the most thorough and well thought out estimate of the people I had consider the work. Allen and Jeff did all the work themselves. They arrived everyday at a set time, which they texted before they arrived, and left 8+ hours later. They ate their lunch on the job. It was obvious they had certain goals for their work each day. They included us in everything from where to place toilet, sink and grab bars to color, etc. They made recommendations for purchasing sinks, counter tops, etc, but let us choose how to purchase, through them or us. They showed us exactly what they were doing every step of the way. They checked every measurement to carefully lay tile, floor, hang vanity and dry wall, even using a level to hang shower curtain rod. We had complete confidence in their work. I never felt that I had to check on how they were doing things, which was a first for work done in our homes. We highly recommend ARMS Home Improvement for any job at your home. We recommended them to our daughter for her future projects.

I’ve used Allen and his team on multiple projects. He is my go-to contractor because I can trust him to tell me what I need and what I don’t need to have done in a project. His prices may be higher than others but the quality is worth it. In this most recent project, Allen took my laundry area from concrete and concrete block, to a fully finished laundry room complete with new appliances, counters and cabinets for storage and folding, a space for drying clothes to hang, and a closed off utility space. Additionally, he changed a half-bath to a full bathroom with 5-ft shower. To do this, Allen, Jeff, and Ryan had to dig up the concrete floor to move pipes; had to replace copper piping, and reroute ductwork. In doing so, they found that my dryer had been venting into my ceiling rather than outside, which was a fire hazard. I am fortunate that they found this. As the project was wrapping up, I had them paint and add new flooring in the family room adjacent to the laundry and bathrooms. I also had them replace my backyard fencing, relocate the outside spigot and hose attachment. As with all of my projects, Allen’s the attention to detail was beyond compare. He kept me in the loop when problems or decisions need to be made.

Allen did a great job and made many helpful suggestions. He took on extra work assessing water damage in our master bedroom. After diagnosing the problem, he fixed the underlying issue and repaired the water damaged area. He documented his work meticulously and was very professional throughout. He was the only contractor we talked to that explicitly accounted for staging material and logicistics. His high quality work shined in our historic 1910 rowhouse.

Best Renovation Ever ARMS Home Improvement worked on 3 projects at my home-- Master Bathroom-- Guest Bathroom-- Electrical Panel Upgrade This company is honest, professional, helpful, and is able to hear what you want in your renovation and also add features that complement the design.  What I loved about working with them was the network of craftsmen/ craftswomen that they bring to the job, from the tile, cabinets, mirrors.  I was particularly impressed that when they worked on the accent tile, they brought in a specialist for 1 day to make sure the cuts were coordinated with the pattern.  They suggested lighting that I wouldn't have included, from their extensive experience in bathroom renovations.  I wasn't sure that the extra lights were needed, but they made a big difference in the finished bathrooms.  They also suggested moving a vent from the floor to under a cabinet, small things that make a world of difference, that I would not have thought of.  Finally, the made sure that the foundation, pipes, floor, etc was sound. The owner, Allen Metcalf, is someone that you want to know and wish he was your neighbor.  I was out of town and I needed assistance on a weekend and he stepped in to fix things.  Total lifesaver. I have two more projects planned for the future and ARMS Home Improvement is the company that I want to work with.
