"Wonderfully. Mr. Harmon's estimate was lower than any others, including one offered by a neighbor whose friend had a cherry picker truck and from whom we have been buying firewood for decades! The Tri State crew made us a priority and came within days of the initial estimate. (Only storms and rain kept them from doing it immediately.) The crew was thorough, quick, and not only cut branches up into sizes for burning, but stacked them in our wood pile! They had top notch equipment, were extremely courteous, efficient, and impeccable with their clean up. Once the tree was down, we realized that the hornet's damage had eaten away more than half of the tree's diameter at its base! We were truly in danger with this damaged tree. It was within 8 feet of our house and the branches extended over half of our roof, right over our bedroom! We live on a wooded lot and from now on, Tri State Tree Service will be our only go to for trimmed branches and tree removal. I cannot recommend them any more highly. Thank you, Mr. Harmon. Your kindness, expert advice and quick action probably saved our lives."

"We had a dead tree in front they removed that. They still have to grind it down. They trimmed several trees away from the house. It went well. They did the job quickly. I thought the price was very reasonable considering I compared it to the price from another company. I was happy with the work. I'm still waiting till they actually removed the stump, ground it down. I liked the price most. The work was very professional. They brought it down, nothing was harmed. They did have an equipment malfunction that delayed them a little, about a day."

"Highly recommend Tri-County Tree Service. Quick to respond to request for free estimate. Work was performed when scheduled. All team members were courteous, professional and respectful of the property. They cleared the area of all tree debris. It was interesting to watch how the team carefully brought down this diseased mighty Oak. It is a relief to know that the danger of it falling is no longer a concern. Will definitely use again for all my tree removal needs."

"Danny stopped by and gave me a written estimate. Within a couple of weeks, I called him back to schedule the tree being removed. The day I called, the weather was bad, but he said they'd be over as soon as the weather broke. Although I had left my house number, he had called to tell me they'd be over that particular day and I realized it when I pulled into my driveway they had been there - only because the tree was missing. They were unable to remove the stump due to the location of the tree - next to both my house and a fence. Overall, I was happy with the service and they gave me a written estimate where other companies I had contacted did not.

"

A crew of four came for the job in early morning; 1 climber + 3 ground crew. They were on site about six hours, took a large, very tall red oak tree down and also removed two large limbs from an adjacent oak equally as large. They were extremely adept in roping the sections down to the ground and managed to drop pieces skillfully unto a very small, tight section of the yard. I was amazed on how good and careful they were at their craft. The remaining stump is scheduled to be grinded by a separate team. The price Alvarado originally quoted seemed fair to me but they still lowered their estimate with additional discounts to my joy; I had obtained two other estimates that came in higher by other likewise reputable tree companies. We used Alvarado before about 8 years ago and were pleased to see the quality of their work has not diminished. Family owned, they are not the fanciest, but they have the skills, the right tools and equipment to do the job right.

"The response for an estimate was nearly immediate, first thing the next morning.  I had received what was obviously a high estimate from another firm that was hired to clear out trees adjacent to our property.  The examination, interview and agreement on the price took less than 20 minutes.  Thanks to ProArbor's connectivity, Adam both recorded my acceptance of the estimate and scheduled the tree service for the next day.  Two professionals arrived with all needed safety equipment.  They were careful throughout the process, preparation, felling the tree and cleaning up afterwards -- all without damaging or threatening other trees. plants around them.  It took less than an hour and our hazard was gone.  Pro Arbor is tremendous  I can't say enough positive things to say about their professionalism and approach to their craft.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

Only trim palm trees as needed, which is usually about once per year. However, don't stick to that schedule if the palm tree doesn't need it. Avoid trimming palm trees when possible. It’s best to trim palm trees only when you notice a buildup of dead fronds. That said, leave the brown fronds during the dormant season because this organic matter helps protect the tree from the cooler weather.

Yes, pruning makes trees stronger because it fosters proper growth, weight distribution, and balance of the crown. By increasing the structural integrity of the tree through pruning, it’s less likely to experience disease, pests, broken limbs, and storm damage. Pruning the right branches and limbs is key to improving a tree’s strength and balance.

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.

Using Epsom salt to kill a tree stump typically takes between six and 12 months. While this may seem like a long time, it is significantly faster than the natural decomposition process, which can take up to seven years. This method is a viable DIY option for stumps that do not pose an immediate hazard. If you need a faster solution, you can hire a professional for stump removal or grinding, though this may cause more damage to the surrounding ground.
