"I live in a 100-year old brick row house on Capitol Hill. The exterior doors and windows in the back of the house were in really bad shape (leaking air and water and not very secure.) I had Hammer and Nail replace 2 exterior doors and an exterior window (basement door, basement window, and kitchen door). All 3 were custom built to match the existing openings and the style of the house (which is inside the historic district). Installation was tricky because (of course) house is not level and there was lead paint, brick, rotted wood etc.
They did a fabulous job and I am very happy with the work. Larry was my estimater/rep. He was great about recommending feasible solutions and alternatives and was honest about where costs would go up. The doors and windows I got were of high quality in both appearance and functionality. Danny did the installation and was very professional, prompt, neat and courteous. He also took pride in his work and was not daunted by the difficult job, which he did outside in *10 degree weather.* The installation only took 2 days but was interrupted by a snowstorm. The office did a great job of keeping me informed of the changing time frame and working around my work schedule to get the job done promptly.
I am so pleased with the outcome of this job; it has made a huge difference in the appearance, security and comfort of my home. It was not cheap, and I might have been able to get a better price elsewhere if I had gotten some more bids. But the quality of the work and the experience of working with this company was worth it.
