"Santos and his crew were great! They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. Covered the floor with paper. They took the trash with them and were courteous. They were punctual the first day but the second day they were late few hrs. They got all the materials and even left some behind, more than what I paid for incase I needed it which was nice. Very professional and reasonably priced and did quality work. Whatever I wanted touched up, they did without giving me a hard time. Would definitely recommend them and hire them again!"

"We were very impressed with this contractor. Owner Allen Metcalfe is professional, thorough, and detail-oriented. His advice and suggestions were spot-on. One of the first signs of his professionalism was the clear, detailed contract that clearly defined every action to be taken, both by the homeowner and the contractor. The team working in our home was courteous and attentive to our requests. The job was completed and their workspace was cleaned in four days! We are delighted with the results, and would certainly use this company again."

"This was the very best contractor experience that I can ever remember. Mr. Smith (Bill) was on time for both estimate and work and took better than exceptional effort to leave the area even better than he found it. He was reasonable in pricing, installed per ADA standards, matched existing hardware and explained, from great experience, why we needed to modify the placement of the bars. BTW He was right! I would strongly recommend him for your future needs. You will not regret your selection. RDL"

"It was a pleasure again working with Yosuary Diaz and his team on our unfinished basement renovation. We hired them before for whole house interior painting. I would definitely hire him again for other home renovations. Him and his crew are great and are very skilled at what they do. Diaz was not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive contractor, but overall, well worth it! We had our entire basement gutted out and rebuilt. Diaz and his team rebuilt everything from the sub-flooring, new walls, and plumbing...and other major infrastructure that is not always thought of. We love our new basement with a complete bathroom! We highly recommend Yosuary Diaz and his team if you have a major home project."

"I've hired Omar's company for several years on a variety of projects, from comprehensive bathroom renovations to plaster repair work, and have always been happy with the quality of work, timeliness, and price. Omar is very customer focused and makes sure the work is met with full satisfaction. He is flexible and works with the customer on selecting the right fixtures, tile, cabinets, and other details. I would highly recommend Omar's General Contracting for anyone looking for a good, trustworthy contractor."

"Visvydas and Dan were amazing to work with. I interviewed several contractors and Dan was the only one who really listened to me and found a way to accomplish what I wanted. Dan explained what was happening and why and was very patient with my questions and changes. The renovation exceeded my expectations and I could not be happier with the results. I highly recommend General Remodeling Group, Visvydas, and Dan!"

"Excellent diagnosis of the work needed. Complete review of external meter and cable rigging needs, upgrade to new panel inside the house and corresponding grounding under the house (crawl space). Very reasonable pricing as well. I’ve hired D&G Remodeling for the work. The Lord is good! Thank you Angi!"

"

We contracted with an independent architect to design our master suite addition. We invited bids from multiple construction companies, providing copies of our plans to help with proposal development. Willis Builders were the only company that provided a task by task breakdown of their proposed cost. Matthew Willis sat down with us and patiently walked us through his proposal making our choice of contractor very easy.

Willis Builders met with and worked with the architect to understand and clarify some of the engineering specifications. Once building permits were approved the Willis Team quickly sunk new foundations and framed out the new construction. We caused some delays due to ordering wrong windows but the Willis team was able to focus on other work, e.g. roof, electrics, and plumbing while we waited for windows of the correct dimensions to be delivered. The Willis Team worked with the City to schedule permit inspections and make any changes that the inspectors asked for. Following the close-in inspection, the Willis team moved inside to lay new flooring that tied into our existing hardwood floors seamlessly, complete dry wall and decorating. The Willis Team Project Manager, Marcello, patiently worked with us as we considered paint colors, the position of lighting fixtures, and flooring options on the fly. His priority was clearly making sure that Willis Builders delivered what we wanted. The last space to be completed was the bathroom which included creation of a new shower, closet, and tiled floor. There was some slow down in the pace of progress around the holidays which was to be expected but it soon picked up in the New Year. We had none of the completion of punch list issues that you hear about on many construction projects.  Following the completion of the project, one or two very minor issues arose that required attention. We notified Willis Builders and they quickly returned to resolve the issues.

Throughout the building process, the Willis Team limited and picked up and cleared construction trash and mess. We where provided with material receipts from suppliers which we reimbursed. We were also able to apply Willis Builders' discount at suppliers when we purchased materials such as tiles and bathroom fixtures. Willis Builders reimbursed us for unused materials and worked with us to understand and quickly resolve any issues associated with invoices. We didn't pay our final invoice until after the work was completed.

Since the completion of the project, friends and family that have seen our extended master suite have all been very complimentary of the results. We will definitely consider inviting Willis Builders to bid on any future building projects.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

A-frame homes are on the smaller side. While there’s no set square footage amount it has to be, it will usually come in around 1,000 square feet or smaller.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

A cross brace for a fence gate should stretch from the top corner of the gate’s hinge side to the bottom corner of its latch side at a 45-degree angle to the bottom of the gate. This positioning distributes the bulk of the gate’s weight to the base of the post, taking pressure off the top hinge.

Installing a tongue-and-groove wall requires similar techniques to those associated with installing shiplap. However, because of the precision necessary to make each board fit perfectly and the increased material prices, the cost is higher than that of shiplap installations. Expect to spend between $2 and $6 more per square foot for tongue-and-groove walls versus shiplap ones.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.
