"Norwood was great! They came out the next day, provided solid evaluation of the issue, and even recommended that I contact the warranty company. Due to that they ended up doing less of a job, but saved me money and earned my trust by sacrificing their income for quality service."

"Forest Hill Heating and & Air has been instrumental fixing/maintaining our 20+ year old heat pump both in the summer and winter months! We have also been fortunate to have them recently replace our water heater with a greatly improved unit - and have had zero issues with it since the day it was installed several years ago. I am looking forward to having another 20 year old water heater replaced in the near future by this excellent and professional business."

"Kargmans provided a handyman, Alex and his helper, Gerson, to install a storm door, hang kitchen cabinets and replace a mailbox. They did outstanding work and I am extremely pleased with the results. Alex and his helper, Gerson, worked in 95 degree heat to remove my old storm door and frame; repair the entryway; and install a brand new frame and double-paned Pella storm door. This downstairs doorway has always been very difficult to work as it is stucco and uneven. Alex conquered each challenge he encountered. He and Gerson created a professional, precise result with which I am extremely pleased. Both men took extra time with the fine details. After installing the downstairs storm door, they hung my kitchen cabinets, replaced my mailbox and painted the mailbox post. Excellent, excellent, excellent work and a great attitude!!! Alex advised me on the challenges that they will face and the time it will take next week when they will work on the front door. I look forward to having them work on the front entranceway next week."

"From beginning to end, this was a great experience! I was pleasantly surprised by how responsive the company was, Beginning with a pre-purchase inquiry, right up to the morning of the scheduled work, responses were quick and professional. The 2 technicians arrived on time and worked very efficiently, cleaning my neglected gutters. I saw the big difference on the very next rainfall and would highly recommend this company!"

"AMS were professional and easy to work with and did a good job on our new bathroom.
Only one hiccup during the job: They damaged the baseboard heater and it had to be replaced.  They did charge me for the replacement unit itself, but not for the installation.

"As new homeowners, we didn't want to use the fireplace or wood stove until an inspection occurred. Classic Chimney inspected both units and found them in good condition, and not needing to be cleaned. The inspection on top of the chimney revealed that the crown had multiple cracked, loose pieces of mortar. We took their advise to have a flex crown installed, which allows for more expansion and contraction than a conventional mortar type. The work was done promptly. The two-man team arrived during the three-hour window they gave us for the appointment. They were very friendly and helpful, fielding all of our questions and offering lots of advice. The inspection cost $80; the crown was $290."

Nest Installation questions, answered by experts

Ticks are most commonly found behind (or even inside) ears, behind knees, in belly buttons, in the hair, and in your underarms. If you find a tick on your body or on your pet, use a pair of clean tweezers to grab the tick as close to the surface of your skin as possible. If you simply yank or twist it, you can leave the tick’s mouth parts lodged in your skin and will need to remove those carefully with the tweezers.

Once you have removed the tick, flush it down the toilet and wash your skin with rubbing alcohol or soap and water. Know the signs of lyme disease such as fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and a rash.

Bleach and freezing are your best bets here. The soft exoskeleton of spiders and spider eggs is no match to household bleach. Create a mixture that’s half water and half bleach and spray it directly onto the egg sac, and the spider eggs will be killed in less than five minutes. Freezing the egg sac or drowning it in cold water is another option.

Regular cleaning, sealing cracks, and inspecting second-hand furniture help prevent infestations.

It’s debatable, but most will say either termites or bed bugs are the hardest to remove. When dealing with termites, you must find the central nest (as opposed to satellite nests) and exterminate the queen and all potential queens, which often takes the work of a specialist. Bed bugs, meanwhile, are incredibly hardy, good at hiding, and resistant to pesticides, so it takes very careful, very thorough work to get rid of them permanently.

The best termite treatment depends on your specific infestation, home, and budget. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the most common professional treatments are soil-applied barrier treatments, like liquid termiticides, and termite baits. Bait stations are placed in the soil and work by moving poison back into the colony to kill the queen. For infestations that haven't fully taken root, barriers and targeted termiticides are often the most effective options. Additionally, preventative measures such as moisture removal and installing physical barriers to protect vulnerable wood are important, particularly during construction or remodeling. It is best to work with a termite professional to determine the right treatment for your situation.
