"I couldn't ask for better service! A Coreas Tree Services team member contacted me within minutes of my project submission on Angi to schedule a time to stop by. The owner was on time the next morning, quoted a very reasonable price, and scheduled his crew to come out later the same day. True professionals from beginning to the end. We definitely recommend Coreas Tree Services to anyone that needs a tree removed or cut back."

"This was a high-risk tree removal due to how close the tree was to our home, and this team handled it with impressive professionalism. The initial consultation was thorough, and the estimator clearly understood the technical challenges involved. No overselling, just straightforward guidance. Scheduling was efficient, and communication from the office was consistent. The removal crew arrived on time and worked methodically. Their execution was precise. There was no damage, no issues, and no unnecessary disruption. The stump grinding was also done properly, not rushed. What stands out is the balance of quality and cost. The pricing was more than fair given the complexity of the job. It’s clear this company knows what they’re doing at every level from front office to field execution. Strong recommendation for anyone in Ellicott City needing reliable tree work."

"The Contractor (Greentree) did a fabulous job !! The entire crew was friendly, courteous, and very professional. Starting with the initial site visit (by Jeff Stone) Greentree was focused on customer satisfaction. The care and attention to detail (i.e. to ensure no damage was done to any surrounding trees, shrubs, etc.) was clearly noticeable and far exceeded expectation. I would certainly recommend Greentree for any tree service (large or small) project you might have."

"Like so many other reviewers, I was very happy with the quality of work done by Express Tree Service but had difficulty scheduling. I nicked them a half star because I waited for them for a full day on the day they were supposed to remove a tree and they ended up rescheduling at 4:00 to come the next day. However, their team of 4 removed a large and diseased 60 foot tall oak near our house expertly and carefully in about 4 hours and did a good job with clean up. Based on other prices I've heard for such large tree removal, I feel like their prices are good and the work was well done. I'd definitely hire again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

Service costs depend on several factors, including the system's age, type, and size, as well as the complexity of the repair. Labor costs and whether replacement parts are necessary also play a significant role.

Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. You want to ensure your tree is just creeping out of dormancy and hasn’t started pushing out new growth. If you prune your tree too late into spring, you generally won’t see results until the following year.

That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.

Many consider the Fraser fir to be the most popular type of Christmas tree, but which type of tree sells out near you can depend on region and decorating trends that year. For example, the Leyland cypress is especially popular in the Southeast, according to the National Christmas Tree Association.
