"Beautifully. We choose them in 2014 because they were available after a major storm. In 2014, they repaired major damage to several trees and gave us excellent advice about trees on our property. These people are arborists, not merely tree cutters. In 2016, they moved a 10-ft section of decorative block wall away from a large tree. The results were stunning: you would think that the wall had originally been laid in its current location.. In neither case did we get other bids, but I suspect this firm is a bit pricier than many others. Still, I would ask them for a proposal, for you will get a free education that is worth your time."

"I hired J&D Landscaping to cut down an old tree, plant new ones, and take care of mulching and grass trimming. Mr. William and his team were amazing! They were professional, efficient, and left my yard looking stunning. Mr. Elvis did an amazing jog! I am happy with the quality of work and highly recommend their services!"

"Axcobar was great! They were thorough, responsive, and super helpful. They provided a detailed estimate and quickly got to work. We had them trim several trees on our property and remove trees that were too close to the house. We’ve worked with a few tree companies in the past and Axcobar by far was the best we’ve worked with. We definitely recommend and plan to use them again."

"They responded to quickly to my request to trim two ornamental apple trees with a very reasonable quote. Upon arriving at my home, I could tell the camaraderie of the 5 man crew. The tree climber was incredible in what he did. The supporting crew cleaned up the yard before they left. I also accepted an offer to trim the overgrown bushes in my front yard again for a reasonable fee. It was clear that they knew what they were doing here as well. They improved the appearance of my landscape significantly. It only took them an hour and half to complete the work which would have taken me a day (assuming I can climb trees). After they were done, they gathered around the grinder to socialize before moving on to the next job. It was sincerely a pleasure to work with these men."

Customers say: Quality work

"I've lived in this house since 2002 and always hated having the 9 pine trees on the side of the property so close to the house. Most of the trees were at least 60+ feet tall. Oliver & Oscar presented a VERY reasonable price quote for the complete tree removal to include hauling away all debris, grinding the stumps and hauling away the wood chips. Trust me when I say reasonable price quote, as I've obtained no less than 20 estimates over the years. They left only the chips to fill in the hole that was left from grinding. They presented their license and insurance upon request and reviews were easily found everywhere. They completed the work in just a little over a days time. We could not be happier with the work performed. The crew was very friendly and was happy to talk and answer any questions we had. If I ever need any tree work in the future, I will absolutely, without hesitation call O & O Tree Services again. THANK YOU!"

"We had a very good experience with the New Creation Tree Service. Edwin Contreras owner of the Service and his crew did a good job in cutting the dead tree plus the pruning of another tree in our yard. In addition, Mr. Contreras was professional, knowledgeable, easy to communicate with and help with other issues regarding yard work. We greatly appreciate his practical and honest recommendations about pruning more trees in our yard. His reasonable charge, good tree service, knowledge willingness to help and over-all great customer service are ingredients for us to request for help in the future. Thank you very much. G. "Carlos came prepared to work on the initial estimate visit to my home. Within 3 hours at my home the tree was removed and the sizable stump was grinded up. He was prompt with taking away the brush and cleaning up behind himself. I would strongly recommend him."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

The best way is to start controlling tree height long before it grows too large, via careful pruning through the years. But that’s not always possible. If a tree has become too high or too large, use selective pruning to remove the most troublesome branches, one by one, without topping the tree. Gently shaping a tree like this can, over time, correct problems. You can also find growth inhibitors to spray on a tree to stop it from growing too rapidly, but use these sparingly if at all.

Generally, homeowners do not need permission to cut down a tree on their own private property, but there are several exceptions where a permit may be required. You might need a permit if the tree is particularly large, old, or a protected species, such as a heritage tree. Trees located near public property or power lines can also be subject to special rules. Additionally, many local governments and homeowners associations (HOAs) have regulations controlling which trees can be removed to manage an area's appearance or prevent the spread of invasive species. To avoid hefty fines, it is crucial to check with your local government and HOA to determine if a permit is needed before you begin.

Palm trees are unique in that their roots don't grow straight down; they grow horizontally. Typically, palm tree roots go down between 12 and 36 inches deep. The roots grow far and wide from the base of the palm tree to absorb as much water and soil nutrients as possible. In addition, the horizontal roots are also very strong—keeping palm trees stable and helping them sway during storms.
