I've contracted with Wood Acres three or four times in the past 15 - 18 years to trim dead wood/limbs from the huge oaks in my yard. Last month, in addition to removing dead wood/limbs from the trees, the crew installed cables, ground a tree stump, pruned and took out some older shrubs. It was a lot of work and took a day to complete. The Wood Acres arborists are extremely knowledgeable and their crew is meticulous in their work and clean-up. A few days after the work was done, I received a call from their office to ensure that I was completely satisfied with their service. This is a top-notch operation.

They visited and gave me an estimate, which I din't think was cheap. So I asked the company that had done the tree pruning 4 yrs ago to also give me an estimate. Their estimate was 3 times what I paid 4 yrs ago and 300 more than Wood Acres.
So I went with Wood Acres and was not disappointed. They warned me that the crape myrtle would look very bare after the pruning (which it does!). They arrived punctually and worked professionally. When they were finished I asked them to cut a couple more small branches, which they immediately did. Perhaps they could have told me that they had finished and asked me to look and see if I was happy, instead of me having to take the initiative. But overall I am very pleased with their work and will use them again.

This was my second time using the company, and I chose them because my research indicated they are all certified arborists.  When I first called, three years ago, I had just learned that my large evergreen was infested with bagworms.  They came out, looked at that tree (and others on the property), made recommendations and gave me an estimate.  I signed a contract, they came back at the appropriate time and did the work.
I called this year because I thought the bagworms had reappeared.  The same guy I had three years ago came out and looked.  He didn't see any bagworms, and said we didn't need the treatment.  He did say we could do the treatment as a preventive measure, because bagworms come around fairly often.  He was not pushy, and I agreed.   I also had him look at my other landscaping/shrubs, where something was eating away at the leaves.  He recognized that pest and made a suggestion.   He gave me an estimate for shrub treatment alone, and one for shrubs and large evergreen.  I opted to do both.  The $400 covered two visits to perform the full treatment....  I don't know how this cost compares to other providers, but I don't really care because these guys are good.
They have been in business a long time, and are responsive, friendly, and honest.

The costs above were each  for job as stated below.
They were very professional, respectful and did a great job.  I've used them in the past as well.
The cost of the first job of pruning  was higher than most but they delivered a good job.  They only accept checks but are willing to divide payments. ($3,100.00)
I had a contract with Bartholemew trees before Wood Acres but they lost their best climber and had some issues with price negotiating so we mutually agreed to break that contract and I hired Wood Acres.
The second job of removing the huge poplar was more compatible with other estimates. ($8,525.00)
The job was tricky because all the trees are very close to the house and they did a great job of protecting our patio, the house, the front yard when the big crane came and cleaned everything up very well. They put boards and metal sheets where the crane's stabilizing pads went and had to remove then replant an azealea in the process.
Forest their estimator and supervisor was very respectful, prompt, and professional.

The two evergreens were right next to the house and overfeed wires and underground cables. They took out the upper limbs first and then the tree trunks which were either 60 inches around or 90. They come back each year to see how things are and give us any help we need with trees and such.

I made arrangements to have my Red Maple and American Elm trees receive this treatment to keep them healthy. The treatment is preventative and helps to rebuild drought stressed and construction damage to root systems. These treatments occurred in the Spring and Fall of 2008. The cost is manageable because I just have to pay the $259 after each treatment.

I understood when Wood Acres came what a good company was because of their explanation of what they would prune and why. He slowly went through the property explaining what should be trimmed and why. I felt like I got my money's worth and more even though it was double what the other person had quote me. They had me buy some food for the roots to help the trees. It has been 2 years later and there hasn't been an improvement in the problem. That is the only problem I had and I will get back to them this Spring.

A certified arborist assessed the health of the trees. He knew his trees well-very impressive. I wanted them trimmed for safety reasons because the tree limbs were in my neighbor's yards, on top of the house and hanging over utility lines. First they did a soil test to determine the mix of fertilizer. It took several weeks for the results. Trimmers were very efficient and asked me several times whether the maple was trimmed to my satisfaction. The debris was cleaned up very well. The stumps were grinded first. I was not as pleased that they left the ground sawdust. I thought I had paid to have it removed but was mistaken. I paid to have the tree trimming debris removed. I was told sawdust could be used for mulch but read that's not a good idea because it attracts insects, like termites. So you would not want it near the house. Some tree mulch killed some of my neigbors grass. A plus was they "sprayed" an old fence post for safety at no extra cost.

They failed to notice a large broken tree branch in a very rare 65 foot tree that was the pride of the neighborhood in the fall. I couldn't see it from the ground, but I paid them to check everything and was very specific with them from the beginning about caring for this tree. The large broken branch in the middle of the tree resulted in rot after just a year it seemed. I had to hire others to take the middle of the tree out. The tree is ok, but not thanks to them, and I had to pay a substantial amount to save the tree as they failed to notice the damage and it festered for over a year.
