"Excellent work. The crew arrived on time and first took down a dead tree near our driveway and house. One worker climbed the tree and carefully took off branches and then dropped the tree into the woods. Then they went to work on another tree that had branches reaching out toward our house. All taken down safely and efficiently and they cleaned up when they were done. I'd definitely hire them again."

"They did a fantastic job elevating and trimming 2 large trees and removing 2 other trees that were dying (including grinding the stump). They also trimmed the branches behind my house so that the grass in my back yard can start growing again. I was charged a fair price in comparison to other companies I found outside of Angis list. They were professional, punctual, friendly, cleaned up afterwards and the yard looks so much better due to their work. I am grateful!"

"Very friendly estimator, listened to what I wanted done and explained about their insurances and worker's comp payments. Treescape was the first and only company to respond to my HomeAdvisor/Angi inquiry which surprised me. Their price seemed fair to me (and I always underestimate what projects will cost). The work crew arrived on time even though it was a hellishly hot day. Very carefully took down one tree which was between my deck and fence and trimmed back another one about 50%. Excellent clean up, very satisfied and would definitely hire them again. My neighbor had them come out a week later to take down a tree for him."

"JMC Tree Service did a thorough, professional job taking down a challenging tree. Communication was excellent, crew worked as a tight team; this was a very large oak, it had a trunk of over 54" in diameter and overhung both my neighbors and my house, along with the homes power lines - truly a lot of challenges. The price included taking the tree down, hauling the trunk, cutting the branches to length that would fit in my free standing fireplace, and grinding the stump - all for significantly less than other estimates received - more in line with the cost I was expecting. Would definitely recommend and use in the future."

"I loved this company because they just *handled* it with minimal instruction and direction. I could not be more pleased. I hope to use them again when I want to redo the landscaping in the spring."

"Met a arborist who was working down the street his name was Mark Sullivan. I had a few quest for him regarding my property, I made it clear that I didn't have money at ko6butvrealky needed an experts opinon. Mark took the time and walked me thru several options. He could have just blown me off but He cared and took time to help. Because of his effort and level of dedication I am making plans financially to hire him this spring to help us. Sometimes price isn't dverything"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

According to scientists at Penn State University, spotted lanternflies do not typically kill the trees and plants they feed on, but they can cause branches and segments to die off. However, they have been found to kill cultivated grapes, which can have devastating consequences for vineyard owners and regions that heavily rely on vineyards to create jobs and generate revenue. They have also killed the Ailanthu altissima, known as the tree of heaven, though this is classified as a noxious and invasive weed tree.

Consumers typically do not need to worry about the cost of tree insurance, as professional tree service companies pay for their own coverage. For a tree service business, an average U.S. policy covering about $1 million in general liability costs roughly $40 a month or $500 a year. More extensive policies, providing between $500,000 to $2 million in coverage, can cost between $3,000 and $6,000 annually, depending on the company's size and scope of work. Tree service professionals should speak with an insurance company to determine the right plan for their business.

Large, established tree branches won’t grow roots, but if you find a young tree branch that’s less than about a year old, you’ve got a shot. Put it in water or soil as soon as possible for best results. You’ll know the branch is viable if it’s about the thickness of a pencil and has some leaves or needles.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.
