When Bruce arrived to do the assessment, we spent time going over the heating needs in the house. After a thorough inspection and measurement of the house, we sat down. He showed me a few options, all of which were going to provide good service. I ordered a unit at the end of that meeting. The installation day was just terrific- the entire work crew that showed up were everything I would hope to find: Upbeat, informative, hard-working, focused. The job was finished before end of day as promised. The heater room is now immaculate, with new piping and a new heater. It was like watching a pit crew at a NASCAR race. Everyone had their tasks, they moved carefully but quickly. The materials were all laid out in order, etc. Just a totally professional approach to their work. The crew boss answered any questions I had. The follow-up for a normal inspection of the furnace chimney was scheduled the day after the installation. I’ve gotten calls to insure we are satisfied with the work. Satisfied barely covers it- I am pleased to write this kind of review. "I identified this company by checking Angie?s List for A-rated limousine services.   I agree with other reviewers? favorable ratings.  The company appears to be a small operation, but that may be why it is able to be so responsive to clients and provide excellent service.  I contacted other limousine companies in the Baltimore/DC area, and some of them did not even acknowledge my correspondence.   The owner of Lisa?s Elite Sedans, on the other hand, replied within an hour to an e-mail sent at 3 a.m.!   More importantly, he quoted a competitive price, which did not change (no unexpected add-on fees), showed up right on time for a 5:15 a.m. pick-up, and arrived with a stepstool as promised (but not needed after all) for the luxury SUV.   Included in the price quoted for the limousine service was a discount given to Angie?s List members.   I would definitely use this service again.

"I was so lucky to find a real professional during the beginning of a heat wave. Last Friday, at 4AM noticed the house was hot and the thermostat reading 78 degrees. Call several vendors and the earliest appointment was on July 24. Went to Angie's List and found Grove and Son. Travis answered the phone right away and set the appointment the same day. The AC got fixed and working great. Those guys are awesome!"

"Our service technician was David. He arrived earlier than expected and went straight to work. Our new pump was installed in less than one hour. We were pleased with the work. He came after hours 6:30pm and did not charge an exorbitant fee. He was pleasant and very informative when asked questions. If there was a topic he was not familiar with he answer "I'm not sure". I like reliable companies with professional employees. We had another plumber come earlier and wanted to charge us $452 dollars for a 1/2 HP pump that cost on average $242, $200 for accessories for installation (I paid $276 taxes included for pump and accessories), labor charge to go and pick up the pump and to install the pump. His price $1252. I was told that it was considered an emergency so that is why the price was so high. This was the morning two days after the flood. After we got the pump we called several times and no response as of yet, He's off my list completely. I share this illustration so that buyers can make educated decisions about how best to spend their money. I don't assume that the plumber whose charges were 50% higher than anyone else I called on Angies List. I simply say do your homework and know what is considered a fair price. "Continental's technicians were highly experienced, professional, considerate, respectful, hard working, and neat.  They arrived on-time when scheduled.  Allied's drilling and trenching crews were excellent also.  This was a big messy job that took about a week and we are very happy with the work that they did.  The owner of Continental, Frank Jackson, sold us the system.  He provided an extensive reference list that went back at least 15 years.  He was on-site for most of the job providing hands-on supervision of his technicians.  His technicians are so experienced that he didn't have to be there to supervise them.  Rather, I believe he was there to make sure that the job was finished on time because they are so busy.  Allied had an on-site supervisor at the start of the drilling process to finalize the location of the loop bores, but their drilling crew was highly experienced and needed no supervision.
Installing geothermal is a messy job.  The vertical bores and horizontal trenching for the ground loop makes a muddy mess.  The drillers from Allied were very respectful to the property, much more than I expected.  I expected that the drilling process would make "a mess and a half" but it only made a mess!  At the end of the job the ground was re-leveled and ready for seed, which has already popped and growing grass.  As one of the drillers said "the mess only takes grass seed to fix".
The HVAC technicians from Continental left the spaces where  they worked in "broom-clean" condition.  We had to do some "deep cleaning" afterwards, but this was completely reasonable.
We expressed our concerns about the job to the technicians before they started work because we do not know much about HVAC or geothermal.  They took the time to explain what they were going to do and how they were going to do it.  They kept us fully informed about their progress and included us in the decision making process when they had more than one way of running a pipe or duct.  They made us feel really comfortable and that we were getting a top-notch job.
While the cost for the system from Continental was a little bit higher than their competitors I think we got value for money.  In addition to the reference list we received during the sale process, we also know two families that used Continental in the recent past and they are very happy with the work that was performed.
We would use Continental again and would recommend them to others.
If you go with the option to integrate your hot water heater with the geothermal system (which is supposed to reduce the cost of the hot water that you use) I would reccommend that you bite the bullet and have a preheat tank installed at additional cost.  We didn't do that and in retrospect we should have based on some further reading that we did about how to get the most bang for the buck from geothermal.  It would be easy to install the preheat tank during a new construction project.  It would be harder to install the preheat tank during a replacement project (like ours was).
