Customers say: True professional

"I am very, very happy with the work JH painting did in my home. I needed to have the interior of my 4 bedroom rental property painted. Mr. Taurino reached out to me immediately after I submitted my request on Angie’s List. He was very professional and patient with me because I had a lot of questions about the job. Pleasantly to my surprise JH under the supervision of Mr. Taurino did a tremendously job. They moved and covered furniture prepped the walls by patching all the dents and holes. I recommend JH Painting (Mr. Taurino) to anyone looking for a true professional painting contractor. Thank you JH Painting Services. God bless you and your crew."

Emergency services offered

"Well, this is a bit unusual. Apex contacted me about my job to paint backsplash tiles. A great guy told me I really needed a tub and tile glazer. So I contacted Oasis Tub andTile Reglazing LLC. 941-269-3984. What a fantastic Job. I was overwhelmed. At first I thought the price of 1600 was a little high but the care they took to tape off everything and create a flawless finish was so worth it, that I tippped much more."

"Had a great experience with Josh and Nathan! They were friendly, professional, and did really nice work. We had the exterior of our building painted, and they took their time making sure everything was prepped properly before they started instead of rushing through it. They kept me updated throughout the job, cleaned everything up when they were done, and the finished paint job came out exactly how I wanted. Super easy to work with and I?d definitely hire them again."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Typically, a fence requires one to two coats of stain. The exact number can vary depending on the porosity of the wood. For specific guidance, it's best to check the manufacturer's instructions. After applying the first coat and letting it dry completely, you can assess the finish. If it appears patchy, uneven, or you want a more saturated color, a second coat is recommended. An extra coat can also help cover lap marks.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.

You can only change your neighbor's fence with their permission. A neighbor's fence is their property, and altering it without their consent could constitute trespassing or property damage, which may have legal consequences. If you have concerns or disagreements about your neighbor's fence, communicate with them openly and try to reach a mutually agreeable solution. If you believe the fence violates local zoning laws or property regulations, consult with local authorities or seek legal advice to address the issue through proper channels.

If you have the time and the budget, we strongly recommend staining your fence, especially if it's looking a bit tired or hasn't been treated recently. While you may not see the same return on investment (ROI) as you would with a project like a kitchen remodel, staining a fence is one of the best ways to add a facelift to your property—a new fence stain adds serious curb appeal to your home.
