"Beautifully. We choose them in 2014 because they were available after a major storm. In 2014, they repaired major damage to several trees and gave us excellent advice about trees on our property. These people are arborists, not merely tree cutters. In 2016, they moved a 10-ft section of decorative block wall away from a large tree. The results were stunning: you would think that the wall had originally been laid in its current location.. In neither case did we get other bids, but I suspect this firm is a bit pricier than many others. Still, I would ask them for a proposal, for you will get a free education that is worth your time."

"Axcobar was great! They were thorough, responsive, and super helpful. They provided a detailed estimate and quickly got to work. We had them trim several trees on our property and remove trees that were too close to the house. We’ve worked with a few tree companies in the past and Axcobar by far was the best we’ve worked with. We definitely recommend and plan to use them again."

Customers say: Quick response

"Carlos contacted me promptly after I submitted for quotes. Within an hour he was at the house and ready to work. He gave me a good price for cutting down a tree and also cutting a stump down to ground level. He offered to grind stumps as well but since I will just be adding topsoil and planting grass over I declined the stump grinding. I highly recommend Carlos for all your tree needs."

Customers say: Quality work

"I've lived in this house since 2002 and always hated having the 9 pine trees on the side of the property so close to the house. Most of the trees were at least 60+ feet tall. Oliver & Oscar presented a VERY reasonable price quote for the complete tree removal to include hauling away all debris, grinding the stumps and hauling away the wood chips. Trust me when I say reasonable price quote, as I've obtained no less than 20 estimates over the years. They left only the chips to fill in the hole that was left from grinding. They presented their license and insurance upon request and reviews were easily found everywhere. They completed the work in just a little over a days time. We could not be happier with the work performed. The crew was very friendly and was happy to talk and answer any questions we had. If I ever need any tree work in the future, I will absolutely, without hesitation call O & O Tree Services again. THANK YOU!"

"We had a very good experience with the New Creation Tree Service. Edwin Contreras owner of the Service and his crew did a good job in cutting the dead tree plus the pruning of another tree in our yard. In addition, Mr. Contreras was professional, knowledgeable, easy to communicate with and help with other issues regarding yard work. We greatly appreciate his practical and honest recommendations about pruning more trees in our yard. His reasonable charge, good tree service, knowledge willingness to help and over-all great customer service are ingredients for us to request for help in the future. Thank you very much. G. "JK Gardening Lawn & Garden Care once again has done a fantastic job for us. They are always prompt with communication, prices are fair, and their work is excellent. Within a week of contacting Kevin, I had someone come out to assess what work I needed and had a crew show up. I asked for additional landscaping work this year, a separate quote was drawn up, approved and scheduled with ease. Thank you for another great experience!"

In this project, we transformed a bare dirt area by using Blue Ice stone in the corner. Along the patio border, we added Delaware River Jack to seamlessly connect the entire stone bed around the pool.

"This company provides excellent work.  The grass always appeared that they were keeping the blades sharpened on their lawnmower.  The grass was always cut based on the temperature outside. We were never concerned if they would show up each week. The only reason we are not currently using them is because their prices were higher than we wanted to pay each week.

"Xtra Care did a fabulous job. We don’t have a huge yard, but they gave our landscaping detailed, careful attention and did a beautiful job. They are also very pleasant and responsive to questions and concerns. I will definitely be using them for all our landscaping work."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You’ll have to balance up the cost, the value of the tree (sentimental or otherwise), and the risk factors. An experienced arborist will help you understand whether transplanting is likely to be successful. The cost and hassle of transplanting a large, well-established tree are often not worth it, especially if the species is fast-growing and easy to source. The decision depends on the age and species of the tree, the conditions in the new site location, and how careful the company is when digging out and moving the tree.

Although it’s possible, heavy machinery like a crane is necessary for removing an entire tree stump and all. This procedure is extremely costly, time-consuming, and usually unnecessary, as there are plenty of convenient and affordable stump removal options.

Your best bet, if you want to be sure to remove a tree and its stump efficiently, is to speak with a professional. They’ll be able to walk you through the entire process.

Generally, avoid trimming trees in the summer (with the exception of pruning fruit trees as needed). Trees use a lot of energy in the summer, most of which is relegated to new growth. If you chop it too early, you could stunt the next season's growth. Again, when in doubt, do some research based on the specific tree type.

Some people prefer to leave or even carve a leftover stump, but we recommend removing it if possible. You can often dig out smaller trunks with a shovel once they have died and dried out. You can have stumps professionally removed, or request a service to grind them down to ground level so they can be replaced with other landscaping or objects.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.
