"Very well.  I acted as general contractor after my builder disappeared in the middle of the job.  I had some good contractors and some not so good ones.  HS Plastering and Painting was at the top of the good list.  The quality of their work was very good; no complaints there at all.  But what stood out was the experience of working with them.  They came when asked, did what they were asked to do, acted in a professional manner, stood by their work, and were a true pleasure to have as a contractor.  They were quick, worked weekends to get the job done, and didn't cut corners.

"I needed my entryway stairs and porches replaced due to age. I found MMP Construction here on Angie’s list, and contacted them through the website. Matt, the owner, called me back the next day and we arranged a time for him to come and give me an estimate. He showed up exactly when he said he would, and emailed me the estimate the next day. When I hired him, he told me upfront that it would be a while before he could start due to an ongoing project he was working on. I appreciated that. When the time came for him to start, there were some delays, mainly weather related, and he was very conscientious about calling me and letting me know what was going on and when to expect them. Although the project took longer than I expected to be finished, I am very happy with the finished product. Matt is excellent at communication. He took care of all permits, and arranged all inspections. His crew was always on time. They did an excellent job cleaning up after they were done, and the finished project was fantastic. I would definitely recommend MMP Construction, and would not hesitate to use them again in the future."

So I was pleased with how smoothly this project went from start to finish. A formal written quote was provided via email which I accepted and he scheduled the work for the following week. "Scott and his crew were absolutely fantastic and we would hire them again in a heartbeat. Scott is incredibly professional, communicative, and prompt. Additionally, the budgeting process he uses is wholly transparent relative to other contractors we have worked with and we loved this approach of his. All in all we found working with Scott to be an absolutely amazing experience that you won't find much of in the Boston area--he is truly a real hidden gem of a contractor. The cherry on top for us was that he managed to get us in two months ahead of schedule!! We didn't have the largest job in the world to take care of, but it was a significant one in terms of the integrity of our house and a bit of an unusual one as far as finding contractors who had experience in dealing with issues of rafter spread. Due to the age of our home (pretty common in the Boston area), it was an improperly framed stick-and-beam frame from the get-go insufficient to support the heavy snow loads we get in the area and needed structural reinforcement in the attic to prevent the rafter spread from compromising the exterior walls of our home. Not only did Scott fully appreciate the scope of the problem quickly, he reassured us he had extensive experience correcting a number of these issues, and together with his structural engineer devised a creative fix relative to proposals from other contractors that preserved a significant amount of headroom in our attic should we ever want to finish it."
