Mavridis Contracting Services

I wanted a shower expanded. George Mavridis's estimate was very competitive but I hired him because I knew he was honest, quality focused and an open communicator. He has a small crew and excellent subs so he's not super fast. But Mavridis is excellent. One example: The shower needed a new fan, vented through the attic roof. The attic boards were all cut (before my time) in half when insulation was installed. The attic floor was unstable and unsafe. George was very busy but he had his team replace the boards with plywood panels...for 20% less than I expected. Why? Because he wanted to make sure I would be happy when the job was done. I could give 4-5 other examples but you get the point. If you hire George, you'll be pleased.

Cannot say enough good things about Mavridis Contracting and its sub-contractors. This was a challenging project in part because the prior remodeling contractor (from forty years ago) cut many corners that needed to be remedied. Mr. Mavridis, his employees, and sub-contractors identified and explained every issue so that we could make informed decisions. The team was courteous, professional, skilled, and very tidy (cleaning up after each day). The finish work (tiling, carpentry, etc.) is excellent. Even the city inspectors provided unprompted compliments on the final product.

Our house is 50+ years old and had the original casement windows, which were starting to fail. In addition, the exterior of our house need to be painted and there were a great deal of shingles or trim that was rotted and needed to be replaced. George and his team did an outstanding job, kept us informed as they went along and completed everything on time and on budget. We couldn't be happier with how the house looks. I would highly recommend Mavridis Contratcing to anyone looking for a contractor.

George and his crew were excellent. What I appreciated most was his integrity and commitment to providing quality work. He didn’t cut corners, and he made recommendations that will ensure that my new deck will last for years to come. He discovered some pre-existing conditions with the foundation of my home that he could’ve ignored and that could’ve caused problems down the line had he not addressed them and just built around them. While I had not anticipated having to make such extensive repairs, it made sense, and I’m glad that I did. I’d work with this company again and highly recommend George and his crew to others. The work was well done; he worked on it until finished not leaving to take on other projects; and they cleaned up the area every day. Already, I’ve gotten lots of compliments on the work and look forward to next Spring when I can enjoy the deck again.

George is absolutely the best contractor we have ever worked with. He is pleasant, professional, detail oriented, a great problem solver and a master at all of his crafts. He provides detailed descriptions and costs of all the work to be done. He and his crew completely gutted the kitchen in our 1890 Victorian home. Because of settling, our floors and ceiling were less than level. George and his crew were brilliant about solving the issue. No more slanted floors and squeaks. He made the installation of the cabinetry look effortless. He also created a much needed laundry room for us. We absolutely love our kitchen. George and his crew are a delight to work with.

George was one of 5 companies bidding for the job, and I had everyone meet with my engineer and architect to scope out the job. George was very accommodating, and responsive to the suggestions and demands by the architect and myself. The rest of the contracting companies were either too busy, or too "pushy" when suggestions were made by the architect and engineer.
The bids came in from 55k to 145k (yes for the same exactly job!!)
George was on the lower end of the pricing, and the other's were not very responsive in our questions and appointments that we tried to make with them, so George got the job.
We made a ton of changes during construction, and between myself and the town, and the architect, and the engineer, I thought that we were going to drive George crazy, but he was unbelievably accommodating and patient with us.  
At some point I made a decision on Saturday night and I started ripping down ceiling and drywall just to "see what is behind there". George cam in on Monday and suggested that we call the architect and engineer to discuss some ideas. His ideas were brilliant, and after the necessary permit changes, and engineering re-drawing, we ended up with a solution that was perfect.
I can't say enough about George's patience, ingenuity, and accurate pricing.
With all of the changes, the re-permitting, the additional inspections, and the vendor delivery delays, we ended up with a very reasonable add-on cost, and a target date very close to the original estimate.
George was always on top of the job, communicated with the vendors, the architect, and the engineer frequently. His pricing was very reasonable, and the changes to the scope of the work were re-priced very accurately and very fast.
I am actually hiring George for another job now, and that is why I thought about writing this review. The guy deserves the recognition.
