That roofer said by visual inspection he could tell I did not need a new roof and his company only dealt with replacements. But, he hazarded a guess at what was wrong and said if anyone actually went up on the roof, it would cost around $800. I then called Farina who scheduled an estimate; they arrived on schedule. The gentleman came inside and took pictures of the stains. I received an estimate about a week later and was asked to agree to it or not by email. I agreed and about another week passed and they showed up at my house to do the work, again going inside first to look at where the stains were. The person who estimated the job was very good to deal with even though I never ended up meeting him. His name is Danny and he was very responsive and patient in answering questions. I found it easy to deal with their main office.
The job was done over 2 days (winter days being shorter). The roof looks good and is guaranteed for 10 years labor with a lifetime on the shingles. 
The scheduling worked fine and was convenient for us.
