I cannot recommend this company. I wasted over 5 weeks trying to get them to fix a simple gutter problem. After one of there guys came out to review my project, I received a quote for 3 options. I chose the most expensive one which including fixing the placement of a 3 foot gutter, improving flashing, replacing damaged clapboards and rotted window sills. After agreeing to go forward, it took a few weeks to get them to confirm they would come out. They claim to have showed up one afternoon for 2.5 hours and then sent me a bill and confirmation of project completion by text. When I got home nothing had been done. I followed up to find out what happened but never really got an answer. I tried to get them to come out again and they kept saying they would come out but then it rained and could not do the work. Finally today they were going to show up at 7:15am to do the job. I got them on the phone at 7:40am and the crew were still 20+ minutes away, I had to leave to work. At this point, I told them to forget about it and I will find someone else. They are very slow to respond to texts and emails and phone calls usually are not answered. It was very frustrating and a big waste of my time.
Response from RB FARINA ROOFING & CONSTRUCTION, INC.
"Hi [Member Name Removed], I am really sorry for your bad experience with us. This is not the standard of service that we would like to provide to our clients. Sometimes the crew gets stuck in traffic or need to stop to pick up more materials, unfortunately, unforeseen happens. We know that it's important to keep our staff arriving on time on time at the project site. I apologize for any inconvenience we've caused. We are always trying to improve our services, and we'll keep working on it. I really appreciate you taking the time to bring this to our attention! Sincerely, Farina Roofing & Construction"

I had an excellent experience with RB Farina's work replacing old wooden gutters and old wooden fascia and soffits with new aluminum gutters and PVC soffit, fascia, and molding on my small house. I must have caught things at a good time, in late winter, because it was just 8 days between my posting my job description on Angies List, and the dumpster leaving my driveway after the work was completed. The original bid was completed at the original price, with some extras (significant touchup painting, and a quick repair on the 2nd story shutter of my neighbor who was kind enough to let us use her yard for ladders) done with no upcharge. I did not seek multiple bids so I cannot say whether the price was high or low; I counted on the fact that the bidder could expect competition. Weather was good for working and we had no ugly surprises from my very old house, so the work went pretty smoothly. I had the pleasant experience of finding that for each of the materials and methods that I either knew about or researched, in every case the Farina team was using top quality. They are good about communication: calls to the office, or by cellphone to the estimator, always were answered live or resulted in callback in a few minutes. The onsite crew was polite, responsive, and very professional. (They also looked like they were enjoying their work, which is always a good sign). The office was very proactive: the written bid arrived quickly, and every check I wrote resulted in an emailed invoice/receipt within a couple hours. For this they are using a platform called HouseCallPro, which automates the workflow considerably. (Why shouldn't buying this kind of services get as good a workflow and email trail as, say, ordering a toaster on the Internet?) . I worked hard to make the jobsite easy to work in (moved stuff away from the house, took down my window screens before they came, ran a wire out the window to provide 20amp electric power, provided a map of where the electricity and water are on outside of house, provided outside access to a bathroom), and the crew was appreciative. Day 1 was demolition, Day 2 was carpentry, Day 3 and 4 were gutter hanging, sealing, and painting. Once they got the gutters up and sealed, they ran the hose into the gutter to check for leaks and flow before they did their final cleanup and left. After watching how they did this work and what materials they used, I have pretty high confidence that their work will last a long time,. I plan to sign up for their annual gutter/roof/chimney maintenance program so that my gutters get cleaned and somebody I trust looks at my roof.

Leo and Ricardo showed up to look at the job on time and they were very professional. They evaluated all the troubled spots and took pictures. They provided a comprehensive quote within a day or two complete with the photos they had taken. I had a few questions on the quote which May in the office tried to answer. Once she was unable to answer some of these questions she had Leo and Ricardo call me. May is very easy to get in touch with but Leo and Ricardo are a little more difficult to reach since they are out in the field all day. Once I approved the quote the were at the house the next day to erect scaffolding. They also were expecting a deposit from me which was never made clear so there was a little confusion there. Our house was built in 1884 so after they started work they discovered the roof was in worse shape then they originally anticipated. They were quick to send photos of the condition of the roof but I was never given a firm price as to what the additional costs would be. They completed work in 3-4 days and clean up was done professionally. The additional work they needed to do was significant and I was never fully made aware of what this was until I received the final bill. I trusted Farina that the price Farina billed me on the additional work was fair. This is based on the other quotes I received from other roofers-all of which seemed either too simplistic of a fix or far too comprehensive and expensive considering the size of the leaks.

Fantastic! They called me back the Monday after my Saturday evening call, did an estimate on Tuesday (identified the reason for the leakage and offering two different options – we went for the more complete, ideally longer-lasting one), and squeezed this admittedly small job in between other jobs within a few weeks. We have already recommended them to our neighbors.

Ricardo, the crew leader, is friendly and knowledgeable. He came out to provide an estimate and then supervised the 2-day job. The team was on-time and professional, and they cleaned up thoroughly as well. Their work was immediately followed by several weeks with sustained and heavy rain, and there were no leaks! We were completely satisfied with the entire process: estimate, scheduling, job, clean-up, and quality.

I first called another roofer who never came inside to look at the stains or went up on the roof. That roofer said by visual inspection he could tell I did not need a new roof and his company only dealt with replacements. But, he hazarded a guess at what was wrong and said if anyone actually went up on the roof, it would cost around $800. I then called Farina who scheduled an estimate; they arrived on schedule. The gentleman came inside and took pictures of the stains. I received an estimate about a week later and was asked to agree to it or not by email. I agreed and about another week passed and they showed up at my house to do the work, again going inside first to look at where the stains were. The actual work took less than an hour-so far, so good. Assuming that the leak is fixed, the only thing that could have been better was if I was told beforehand when they would do the work, instead of their just showing up. Luckily, I was home.

These guys are exceptional. We called Farina Roofing to come take a look at our roof which was in need of replacement. Ricardo and Rafael came out promptly to inspect the roof and provided us with an estimate right away. Their professionalism was unparalleled to other companies we met with and we were even more impressed by the quality of their work. Their crew was excellent and we are so pleased with the outcome. We definitely recommend them for any roofing project and would hire them back in the future.

Quick response to repair leak which was great because heavy rains were on the way. Partial roof replacement was very conveniently scheduled around the weather and my and my tenants availability. Work was completed in less than a full day. They cleaned up well. No mess left outside the house or on the porches (3 family house).

The job was supposed to take a day, but it actually ran over three days. Shingles arrived on Wednesday and IF the crew finished a previous job, they would be there in the afternoon. No one showed up by 1 so I called the office to be told they would be there on Thursday weather permitting. Crew there and started working bright and early, finished back of house and then cleaned up and left. Again call to office, left for day due to impending bad weather. Friday, job was finally completed. They did a good job and the clean up was very good, but communication was not great. If you use them, make sure the crew boss tells you what is going on.

It went very well.  The owner, Richard Farina, suggested using an "architectural" shingle, which is heavier and should last for 30 years as opposed to 20 for most other types of shingle.  They installed Grace ice and water shield up to a distance that we requested.

We had one small leak this past storm on the front porch from the front corner of our bedroom dormer.  They were very responsive and came back the same day called and applied additional caulking between the roof shingles and the siding shingles, where a gap had been created.  I was pleased with their prompt responsiveness.

After having a problem scheduling due to our being away for several trips, we finally scheduled them to come this week.  They said that it would be a one day job, but then showed up with only half a crew and offered to split it into two days.  That was all right with us, since we feared late afternoon storms.  They did complete the work in two and half days, in spite of oppressively hot temperatures.  Brian, the foreman, worked well and kept us informed throughout the job.  We are pleased with the workmanship and professionalism.

I was concerned in the beginning when Mr. Farina himself showed up with only a step ladder to give us an estimate on our garage roof and look at the roof of our two-family condo. However, his estimate for the garage roof was much lower than the other companies we called, and he promised to send out a younger guy with a tall ladder to look at our house roof. It did take a few phone calls to get the other estimate and get the work scheduled (though I give them a break because all roofers were busy after such a terrible Boston winter!). When we finally got the work on the garage roof scheduled, the guys were punctual, courteous, knowledgeable, and hard-working. The roof was done right on time. Clean-up was good, though we did find a few stray nails. We called them back to complete the work on the house roof. Again, the estimate was very competitive. The same guys returned to handle the house roof repairs, which were completed quickly. My only complaint was that we had to contact the office several times to get the estimates and the invoices to document the work for our condo insurance. The work itself was great, and we will call them again for any future roofing needs.

The contractor was knowledgeable and skilled and took the time (perhaps 15 minutes) to examine 4 or our 6 roofs (we have little house with two main sloped roofs, one small less sloped roof and three small flat roofs).
He did not take the time to examine the remaining roofs, saying that he had done enough for us, that there was no charge and that we were in good shape. While I believe the contractor and am somewhat reassured, I would have preferred that he take another few minutes to examine the remaining roof or even to say that he would do that for a charge.
The reason I feel this way is that each roof is different. Flat roofs last 20 years. Ours are 17 years old. One of the flat roofs not inspected is different in that it has glue seams in the middle that may or may not be a problem. It was such a bad winter last year, and I had noticed that one of our flat roofs was starting to curl up a little bit where it is attached under a gutter (hard to explain). I also had noticed a stain that was due to an ice dam (although we had no leakage inside). So concern for our roofs is warranted
As it is, I will be getting another roofer to come to inspect at least the last flat roof and for a second opinion. This certainly is not the end of the world. I might or might not have opted to have the second inspection if the contractor had examined the remaining flat roof
