"Mr. Solivan was on time, he communicates well. As requested he removed my garbage disposal and connected the drains. That didn't resolve a slow draining problem. He had time to take care of that as well. Everything about his work was fine. The charge was reasonable. I am totally satisfied and would use him again."

Customers say: Super punctual

"My main service person, Kevin, came in and immediately put on booties. He explained that he would assess the problems and then show me my options and present the costs. When he showed me the options, I was initially surprised by the rates and prices which seemed high to me. Kevin clearly explained the best and worst case scenarios and gave me many options for choosing what work I wanted to do given what I could afford. Another service person, Ari, came to work on the upstairs tub clogged drain. As they were both working upstairs, water started coming through the kitchen ceiling. They immediately halted and came downstairs to help. They placed bowls underneath the dripping areas and then put down a dropcloth. They had to open the ceiling to see where the water was coming from and it was clear that the ceiling was soaked and had been wet for some time. They found a pipe with a big, rusted and corroded hole that was the source of the water. They replaced the pipe and also snaked the line to clear the clog. Kevin replaced the shower valve and installed a new (and better) shower head. Kevin fixed the leaking kitchen faucet. Before they left, they cleaned up every speck and left the upstairs bathroom and kitchen areas cleaner than they were when they arrived. I also have to mention that it was pouring rain throughout the day, and when they had to go out to their trucks they never failed to put on their booties when they came back inside my house. Throughout the day (they were here all day), they were both pleasant, polite and completely professional. Although it cost me more that I had hoped, it was all work that had to be done and I am very pleased with the quality of the work and personnel. I would recommend them."

"The job was fairly straightforward and I had already procured the sink and most of the additional supplies but the job required some replumbing of both the water supply and drain. The master plumber worked efficiently and professionally and the job was completed in a few hours. The cost was determined from a standard table in a notebook but does not take into account the complexity of the job or whether materials are supplied by owner. Since I supplied most of the materials (plumber supplied valves and pipe and drain fittings) the price seemed rather high for around 3 hours work. However, I've had no professional plumbing work done recently and thus have nothing to compare it to. The plumber was very pleasant and professional and the work of high quality. I have no other complaints."

"very professional, punctual, and thorough installed an internal french drain system including demolition work and sump pump and backup sump pump with dehumidifier. Bulk of work done within 2 days, balance of work to be down when weather warms up and ground is soft enough to place drain outlet pipe and down spout extensions underground"

"They advice, and had all our questions answered on sensible and affordable options. Very knowledgeable, prompt, polite, efficient, and thorough team! We are happy with their waterproofing services in our basement (fast sump pump and a grate trench with a discharge line that goes 15 feet to the outside bubbler) as well as crawl space shield installed under our addition. It works well, and Pioneer checked a month later and a year after for inspection and cleaning. A+ work and workers."

"I recently had a brand new HVAC system installed for both heating and cooling, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The team at Comfort Professor was extremely professional from start to finish. They worked efficiently, paid attention to every detail, and left everything spotless when the job was done. The cleanup was perfect, which I really appreciated. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for quality work and a smooth, hassle-free installation!"

"This was our second time hiring Littleton Earthworks.  They put in a new patio for us last fall, and we were so happy with that experience that we did not hesitate to hire them again for some major backyard work this spring.  There was *alot* of work to be done, and we needed to have it completed in time for my son's 3rd birthday party.  Not only did Dan and his crew gladly take on the challenge, but as the project went along my wife and I kept adding more things to the list, and Dan was happy to accommodate all of our additional requests.  In spite of all the additional work, the job was still done in time for us to entertain 40+ people in our backyard for our son's birthday party.  And we received a lot of complements from our guests about the work that was done.
I should also note that while they were installing the privacy fence, one of our neighbors came over and started complaining to Dan about the fence location and asking if we had a permit.  She was not very pleasant, but Dan handled the situation very professionally, calmly explaining to her that they were following a plot plan obtained from the town, and that there was no requirement for a permit for this fence.  Later that evening I went over to the neighbor's house to discuss her concerns, and she said she misunderstood and was "over it".  She also commented on how professional Dan was when she talked to him.  That says a lot.
We were once again extremely pleased with Littleton Earthworks.  My wife is very picky about the quality of the work that contractors do, and she's had many complaints about other contractors we've hired in the past, but for the second straight time, but that was not the case with Littleton Earthworks.  This is the first time we've hired someone and had everything go smoothly from start to finish... TWICE!!
We still have more work to do in our yard, and once we have it in our budget to do that work, Littleton Earthworks will be getting the call."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

You may have a clogged gutter. Downspouts can also clog if your gutter collects too much debris. Hire a professional gutter cleaner, and if you still have problems, install a gutter guard (which prevents debris from entering your gutter system) and a downspout extension (which helps drain water further away from your foundation, so it doesn't pool near your house). Follow these tips to keep your gutter downspouts clean.

Some homeowners use additives every month to help septic system performance, but according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the effectiveness of septic system and leach field additives is unknown. Further, additives made with organic solvents or alkali chemicals can actually be harmful to the necessary bacteria in a septic system.

That pungent rotten egg smell coming from your drain is likely the buildup of biofilm—hair, skin, and soap scum that turns into a black sticky mess. In this case, pouring down near-boiling water, baking soda, and white vinegar will remove the smell. Keep in mind that a rotten egg smell is occasionally a sign of larger sewage line clogs and other related issues.

It is generally not recommended to pour hot or boiling water down a drain to unfreeze pipes due to significant risks. In some cases, the sudden temperature change can cause more ice buildup or produce steam, which increases pressure and could cause the pipe to burst, leading to costly damage and potential burn injuries. While hot water might help with a partially frozen drainpipe, it is unlikely to thaw a completely blocked water pipe further down the system. Additionally, boiling water can damage plastic pipes over time. Safer and more effective methods include using a space heater near the frozen section or applying hot towels directly to the pipe.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.
