The installation began on a Monday morning at 8am (as promised). The front yard was completely overrun with invasive species. After clearing the front yard, they began setting five granite steps to go from the street level down to the, as yet built, walkway. When they needed to bring in materials and heavy equipment they protected the lawn with sheets of plywood.
On day two they again arrived on time and completed the steps and began to lay the paver walk. When resetting a granite step that was at the porch end, they discovered that it was held in place as part of the porch support. This meant that they couldn't raise it (as planned) to meet current building codes (it needed to be 7"; it was 9"). The owner, Dan, came up with a rather elegant solution. He had a 2" slab cut just larger than the existing step. He cemented this to the existing step thus raising the step to the appropriate height! This caused the third day of installation (originally, he had said two). On the third day they completed the dress work and reseeded the lawn.
I am very happy with the final outcome. It was worth the money spent! I would call them again in the future and have already provided their info to my neighbor and another friend in town. Excellent job!
was excellent. Dan always arrived on time and promptly replied to our
questions. He took our rough ideas and translated them to a practical project
while gently steering us away from thoughts that didn?t work. When it came time
to do the project, his crew was hard working, friendly, and courteous.
We are very pleased with the outcome and highly recommend Littleton
Earthworks.
We went over the invoice and every detail of what was done was discussed. If there was an overage it was noted. (Due to changes or requests which differed from the original and had been authorized by me) Also an underage (?) yes - as his machinery was already on the property, he did not charge for a full day for the added trench work. After filling in the trench he re-seeded.
In the future, I will call them again. If anyone is planning to use their services, plan a season in advance, as they appear to be in much demand.
Job was done in one day and includes fill and grading. I'm very pleased with the results and plan to hire Littleton Earthworks again.
Since this area is fenced off to protect our dog from stray critters, Dan did a good job of finding and installing the correct materials for the job. The lot is not level, and a few fence sections dip at an angle, but I think there wasn't much that could be done short of regrading the entire yard.
I feel very safe letting the pooch out back now, and the fence is very stable and looks fine.
It took a bit of time (2 weeks) to get the written estimate which was not a big problem except that I was going out of town for two weeks and wanted to be around when the work was done. It was scheduled the day before I was to leave but, as luck would have it, the weather did not cooperate and the work couldn't be done that day. Nevertheless, Dan came by (accomodating my shedule for that day) and we did a detailed walkthrough of what was to moved where and everything was marked. The work was done while I was away. and met with my complete satisfaction.
Of note, Dan is scrupulous about protecting your property when working with heavy equipment. Part of his estimate covers the materials he uses to keep lawns and driveways free of damage or debris. This is very impressive and much appreciated.
give Littleton Earthworks a call.
Dan and his crew were professional, thoughtful, and courteous from start to finish.
Our project took about 2 weeks to complete. I believe Dan came to our house at least 3 or 4 times to discuss the design
Dan is easy to work with, listens well and is responsive. We traded many emails and calls throughout the project cycle.
We solved quite a few problems along the way and is a major transformation. Nothing but compliments so far! :-)
We are very pleased with the outcome and we plan to have more work done next spring.
Best of all, the estimates and the actual/s were very close.
In some cases the final figures were under and as with any project we had cost over from additions and changes.
Very fair price, very detailed and focused on high quality with accurate pricing.
