"Gil from NE carpentry did a lot of work for me. The most impressive was that Gil worked with me to repair my interior front porch after a massive leak during a storm destroyed it. Because my house is on the beach and very exposed, every other contractor declined the job. Gil and his team were very rigorous and patient and they did succeed in waterproofing the porch. They did rebuild it and did fantastic work. The team communicates well, is always on time, does a great job and always clean after the workday. Their prices are very fair and transparent. I will continue to work with NE carpentry and I highly recommend them."

"Our house is 50+ years old and had the original casement windows, which were starting to fail. In addition, the exterior of our house need to be painted and there were a great deal of shingles or trim that was rotted and needed to be replaced. George and his team did an outstanding job, kept us informed as they went along and completed everything on time and on budget. We couldn't be happier with how the house looks. I would highly recommend Mavridis Contratcing to anyone looking for a contractor."

"MMP was fantastic. They were easy to work with and did great work. We only had trouble with 2 sub-contractors during this project (Granite & Kitchen design) and they were the sub-contractors that my wife and I selected ourselves outside of MMP... we wish we had used MMP for everything because they did such a good job. I can't recommend them enough. We'd definitely use them again in the future and recommend them to anyone."

"If you have spoken to the rest now hire the best Liam Neary Construction. I bought a house last year and have probably replaced almost everything. I have worked with at least 20 contractors and not one of them comes close to the talent, hard work, dedication, and professionalism of Liam Neary. Everything he does from the moment he enters your home is done with thoughtfulness, skill, and integrity. He will listen to you, explain things to you, and give you honest feedback based on his vast knowledge and experience. He will send you a detailed estimate of the work needed within a couple of days and follow up with you. He is always available and gets back to you quickly. He respects your time and shows up at your home every day at 7 am and works 6 days a week. He checks in daily and several times a day if necessary to keep the project moving. He has a clean-as-you-go mentality keeping everything neat and orderly. He loves what he does, and it shows in the beautiful, finished products of his work. He will treat your home like his own. "Absolutely AMAZING job! We have been searching for a general contractor for almost 6 months to take care of several projects on the exterior of our home. We had worked with Stellar Painting before when our insurance company paid for a door and window repair. After a phenomenal job and a great experience, I called them again to see if, by some miracle, they could handle a list of repairs for the exterior of our home. After coming out, giving an estimate, and providing a start time - I couldn't believe how quickly everything was done! They fixed everything (and that was one heck of a list)! Our deck is so beautiful, I can't stop staring at it. Light poles that a previous masonry company installed are standing tall and proud (versus lump-sided like they have been for years now!) The list goes on. The exterior of our home looks brand new thanks to them. I can't believe how quick and easy it all was. Love the crew as well - Monique is amazing and Eduardo is SO nice and extremely talented! Everyone that came out was super sweet. They will definitely be my go-to from now on."

Customers say: Quality work

"Eddie and his crew were very professional from the original communication (he responded quickly and actually followed up with great communication/something I was finding very hard with other potential contractors). The process with his plumbers and electricians again very professional and could tell it was high end. They are meticulous and it shows from the finished product. This was a complicated job is some ways and if came out great and we are very happy. I would highly recommend Eddie and his crew. We will be using him for future projects."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

There are a variety of second-story deck privacy ideas depending on your budget and aesthetic. For starters, you might consider fencing or tall privacy railing that masks a good portion of the open deck. A pergola or an awning can provide additional cover and shade. Outdoor curtains are an easy way to add or remove privacy at your convenience, plus they’re a wallet-friendly way to decorate your deck.

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

Professionals ensure precise alignment and durability, critical for structural integrity.

Professionals charge between $60 and $95 per hour to install ornamental porch columns. The amount of time they need varies based on the condition of the porch, whether they need to remove old columns, and if there is any damage to your porch's structure. This cost can increase if more issues come up during the installation process.
