"Russ is fantastic. He is very professional and made our decisions easy. He brought several samples and explained the benefits of each tint. I would recommend him to anyone needing windows done."

"I contacted Scott Harlow through Angi and I couldnâ t be more pleased with his work. Scott removed the old film on 15 of my sunroom windows and replaced it with new UV and heat retardant film. The windows look fantastic. Not only is Scottâ s work excellent, but he is also very pleasant, prompt and a true expert at his craft. I recommend him highly and without reservation."

"Gusty wind threw a rock and smash one of our storm window. I found Arlmont Glass from Angies List. Called first thing in the morning. I was thinking it is going to be a 2 weeks project (schedule appointment for estimate, and schedule another appointment for work....etc). But April was so extremely helpful. She sent someone over to the house to give an estimate within 2 hours and gave a very reasonable quote. The work was done on the same day as well. Within another few hours, the work was done. While they were there, I also have them fix a piece of glass on our garage door that has a crack. Their quality of work was excellent. Everything was handle with care and they are very professional. Another gem I found on Angies' List. I will definitely use them again for future glass projects."

"Juan washed the outside of our windows. He worked quickly, efficiently, and quietly, not needing anything from me. I have done my own windows for years and never got them looking so spotless."

"Excellent experience start to finish. Kenny responded to my inquiry right away, we set a date to come out and look at my windows and he arrived promptly on time. I have 2 large triangle shaped glass windows in my sun room - approximately 4' each and 8 - 12' off the floor - not an easy place to reach. Kenny took some measurements and quoted a price that was exactly in my budget. We set a date for the installation - due to our schedules he came out on a Saturday morning. He arrived on time with a helper. Everything went smooth and easy. I couldn't be happier - room is much cooler. Nice work!"

Windows questions, answered by experts

Look for stickers at the top or inside of the frame, like in the tracks when the window is open. Some brands also stamp their name onto the frame itself or place it between the panes of glass, although this is less common. If you can’t find the info on the window itself, consider asking your neighbors or HOA.

Windows can crack for various reasons. Common causes include aging glass, physical impact, and temperature stress. A less common reason is pressure changes, which are far less predictable. Pressure changes often happen because of poor window placement.

Energy-efficient windows cost more than other window types, but they can help you save on your monthly energy bills, get you some breaks on your taxes, and even increase the value of your home. According to Michael S. Regan, Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, when people invest in green upgrades like energy-efficient windows, they save energy, money, and more.

The cost of window installation depends on several factors, including the window type, size, and frame material. Labor rates, the need for custom sizing, and any required structural modifications will also influence the final price.

The biggest disadvantages of low-E windows have to do with cost and, depending on your personal taste, appearance. Low-E windows cost more than traditional windows—typically between $300 and $1,000 per window, plus installation costs. Though they can save you money in the long run, low-E windows have a hefty upfront price tag. Additionally, low-E windows have a slightly different look than traditional windows. While some people don’t notice it, others say the low-E coating gives windows a hazy look.
