"Jane, Allen and Michael and the whole crew of Kitchen Tune-Up of Newton were absolutely super. They responded immediately to our request to refresh our kitchen cabinets and drawers. Their quote for the work was in line or slightly better than two other offers we received. This entailed replacing the cabinet doors, drawers, and all hardware, including new soft close hinges and sliders. From beginning to end, the crew were professional, courteous, and respectful of the house. The materials used were of top grade and the build and quality of the installation was impeccable. They even built a new, custom center island for us at the last minute. We would hire them again in a heart beat. We absolutely love our new kitchen! Superb job!!"

"We were so happy with the work that the Cabinet Cures team did! I love my new kitchen! Refacing is the way to go if your cabinets are in good shape and you like your footprint - you get an entirely new look with less time and money."
Even the adjacent dining area benefited from the update.

"Bob is so easy to work with. He quickly gave a reasonable quote and came to install my new ducted range hood within a week and completed the job in couple of hours. He and his brother were just pros. It’s also very convenient that you can pay him with a credit card. I highly recommend Bob for your home projects. I’ll definitely keep him mind for my future home projects."

"Great quality cabinets and reface. Had a hybrid project done on my kitchen. We had the uppers replaced and extended to the ceiling with a crown moulding and had the lower cabinets refaced. CC Woodcrafters did a great job. The skilled craftsmen that did the work at my house were polite, respectful and cleaned up each day. They were attentive to detail, were there every day until the job was completed and did a great job. I would highly recommend them and felt I could trust them in my home. The owners Charlie and Cheryl listened to what I wanted and matched the stain and glaze that I wanted. The finish on the cabinets are beautiful. There was an issue with them keeping to the start date that was set, however it was worked out and completed by the date I needed my kitchen done. Another issue we had was the measurement of the cabinets on one wall was off, but Charlie was able to satisfactorily resolve it, he would have made a new cabinet if needed but I didn't want the job held up and delayed. Overall a great job my kitchen is beautiful and I love it!"

"Tighe is a master carpenter. He built and installed a kitchen peninsula with extremely tight dimensions and matched the cabinets and countertop to existing custom Italian cabinetry and the existing white quartz countertops. He operated on a faster timeline than any other contractor I had spoken to and was extremely detail oriented. I highly recommend Tighe, you will be extremely pleased."

"This was the second time we worked with Cassio. He did such a flawless job the first time 4 years ago, that we really wanted to hire him again when our condo needed a large renovation due to a flooding. We had to hire a general contractor since there was some plumbing, tiling, cement job involved, but we kept the painting/woodwork job for Cassio's company as we appreciated the very high quality of his work from the previous job. Price was fair. The quality of the work for the painting and the installation of all the new baseboard was excellent. Cassio even pointed out some issues with the floor work done by the general contractor, that needed to be adjusted, so that the results will be of high quality. We so appreciated his attention to details since we are out of state. Cassio just really cares about delivering the best results. We also like Cassio's responsiveness. The scope of the work kept changing as the water damage company conducted more and more demolition due to the water infiltration. Cassio was always available to come on site and evaluate the scope of the work to provide options and estimates in a timely manner. During the job, we had a handyman keeping an eye on the renovation work for us and he was very impressed with the crew. There is no way we will ever hire someone else for a paint job or carpentry job. Only high quality work gets loyal customers. Thank you to Cassio and his crew for their hard and beautiful work on this project."

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

There are three primary ways to attach upper kitchen cabinets to a wall, and installers may use more than one method at a time. The most common method is to drive screws through the back of the cabinets and into studs in the wall behind. Sometimes cabinets are glued to the wall with strong adhesive. Often a combination of screws and adhesive is desirable. The last way is by hanging the cabinets on hardware brackets that attach to the wall before cabinet installation.

The designs are different enough that a conversion would mean more or less fully replacing cabinets to switch between the two. However, if you really like the frameless look but you have face frame cabinets, you may be able to mimic the style by replacing your cabinet doors with full overlay ones.

There’s no strict rule about which way cabinet doors should open, but generally, double cabinet doors should open away from each other. With single doors, you want to avoid having them block your path or swing into  areas where people need to stand. Some kitchens are angled so that cabinet doors may crash into something no matter which way they swing, but the methods above can help prevent damage.

Yes, as long as the doors match the dimensions of your old cabinets and use compatible hinges. This method works best if you are using similar materials and door styles that match your existing cupboards. If you’re choosing significantly different materials, like moving from fiberboard to hardwood, then it’s usually best to replace the entire cabinet.

The cost to install a kitchen island ranges from $900 to $6,500, with an average price of around $4,800. The final cost depends on whether you buy a prefabricated unit or have one custom-built. Prefabricated kitchen islands are generally cheaper. A simple prefabricated cart can cost between $150 and $900, while a permanent, stationary prefabricated island costs from $900 to $5,000. A custom-built kitchen island averages around $4,800 but can cost $10,000 or more depending on factors like materials, size, design complexity, and accessibility.
