We had chimney companies out in the past who looked at that chimney and said it "didn't need cleaning" and then went ahead and cleaned our oil burner chimney -- a far easier task. We were glad to finally have a company that knew what they were doing. We use our fireplace a great deal and feel safer now that our chimney has been properly cleaned. Our fireplace required a far deeper chemical treatment to loosen the creosote that had built up over the years. More expensive than we had anticipated, but the company worked with us on the cost.
