I hired Greg to excavate and waterproof our new 8' tall finished basement. A different contractor did the concrete work. Greg assumed responsibility of all work after the concrete was cured. He said he would acquire and install drainage pipe and fabric around the footings. He said he would apply tar for waterproofing. And he coordinated acquiring stone and sand for back-fill. However, after he back-filled the foundation, I brought to his attention that he didn't apply the waterproofing tar. When I first asked him about not doing the waterproofing tar, he said he called his "guy" to do it and expressed frustration that it didn't get done. A couple days later he changed his message and said I never asked for waterproofing to be done. Then he changed his message again and said he gave me the phone number to his "guy" for me to call and coordinate the waterproofing. In the end, he was certain it was my fault for not coordinating with his "guy" to do the waterproofing. By all accounts, waterproofing is essential because our home is on a lake and has water issues that need to be mitigated. He wanted to charge us for the additional work to re-excavate even though he didn't get it right the first time. We shared harsh words and now I have a foundation that will leak like cheesecloth. It was quite fascinating how many excuses he surmised for why it didn't get done; none of which included that perhaps he made a mistake. I was quite pleased with his work until he blamed me for not doing that one particular thing. Seriously, dude? It was my fault? I understand that mistakes happen, I wish he were mature enough to take responsibility. Don't hire children to do a man's job.

Hired Greg West in 2018 to replace a shingle roof. Price was very reasonable. I unfortunately learned that you get what you pay for. - Didn’t take care to protect landscaping. Shingles piled on top of established bushes requiring replacement. - Didn't protect the siding. Two years later we still have scars on the vinyl from shingles coming off the house and falling down the side. - Bent the gutters in several locations. - Didn’t use the materials quoted. For example he quoted replacing the flashing. Only a 2ft length of flashing was installed. - Underlayment barrier was quoted. None was used. - The shingles were not installed per the manufacturers recommended methods including the amount of overlap. The result is a very poor aesthetic. - Job site was left a mess when they were done for the day. Similar to other reviews Greg left his 15 year old son here alone (with his teenage girlfriend looking on) to do the job on one of the three days. I had a well trusted roofer, who has done countless roof replacements in my neighborhood, inspect the work and he was perplexed by the poor work and has a lot of concern over the longevity. Learn from my mistake.

I can not in any good faith recommend this contractor. Aside from not running anywhere near schedule on a project that was suppose to take a couple weeks turned in to when he showed up over several months. He botched the job. I have contacted several other contractors since and all the say the same thing, everything he did would have to be demolished and start from scratch. He had 3 projects one, landscaping which not only does it have high and low points IOW not leveled/plained evenly the grass never grew. He used half a bag of some stuff he had in his garage supposedly. I couldn't tell you the brand because it was not labeled. two, stairs from the deck with an 8 foot drop, well he never actually built any just left it open. three, the big part that has to be torn up now. A concrete patio 22'x12'. He sent one guy (his son) to do the whole job. His son stated he had never done anything of that size before. Not only did he pitch it towards the house! But it as well had pooling low points and the finish was not broomed buy looked like aged gravel exposure. The far corner has what I refer to as a wing because it lifts up higher than anywhere else. He used fiber mesh and no re-bar. Which later i learned from two concrete guys (private and SD Ireland) that you don't use that for patios as you will have fiber hairs sticking out and its meant to be used in conjunction with re bar. The application is actually intended for marine use. Also doing a brush finish is impossible due to the fibers. More so on a slab this size they never even add relief joints. **** during the project they ran out of concrete so it started to setup while they ordered more because they calculated the square footage incorrectly. So now a year later and I still have a mess that I have been quoted between $5,500 and $6000 to tear up and re-pour. Which doesn't fix the landscaping or add stairs. I should mention I used Porch.com who was advertised at Lowe's. I sent the request and he contacted me then it went to us talking. But since it was never anything more than the official request through them their 100% guarantee does not apply, the most they will do is annotate on his account the discrepancy and asked me to submit a review for it. So be aware of their terms if you use them to find someone and keep it to the site no matter how much contractor wants to step outside. Extra note, Greg West despite numerous times asking never provided any invoice or receipt in writing. Overall horrible experience and Greg West left me a mess to clean up and deal with on my property. I should be fair and note that I only ended up paying for the dirt, I did not pay for the rest and he did not fight me on it (that's how bad it is) he offered to rip out his messed up slab but that was going to cost. To me this is "insult to injury", why do I have to pay to undue his mistake. He has since just vanished. So I paid $2000 to him for dirt, and now it will cost me $5500 to fix it plus whatever a landscaper will charge to do the lawn correctly. Just as a thing he verbally quoted $4500 to start. So this $4500 project is now going to cost me $7500 plus, and a year now of headache. Please look at my pics: Look at the finish (that's what happens when you use fiber mesh, no re-bar and have your son who has no experience do it alone) Look how the water pitches towards the house Look how their are significant puddles.
